I wrote a very detailed letter BMW NA and to my surprise I got a call last week that they are replacing the engine and covering the $27,000 bill. Can't wait to get my baby back. For break in what do you guys suggest I do and not do?? I am going to likely garage this car and will be the first car of my collection for when I get older. So I want to break this engine in perfectly.

Sincerely,
Cesar Garcia

You were having engine issues? Had a dealer already documented engine failure?

Once you get the car back don't rev passed 5500rpm for the first 2000kms. I would then suggest an oil change as per BMW break-in requirements.

About a year ago I decided to correlate people who advocated ignoring break-in with people who complained about oil consumption / rod bearing issues and such. It was startling how many I came up with...

Too many pages to read through and way off topic, did you get it sorted out? Any warranty coverage from ESS being the original owner of the ESS S/C kit, or is everything out of pocket?
