I have an E90, thinking about getting a convertible...any advice?
just switch from an E90 to a E93....at first thought I was going to really miss her specially when I first step on the cabrio, but I have not reached 1200 miles so I am taking it easy, love the topless feel, a bit nervous to be exposed specially around S. Fla. but the fun factor is amazing. I can for sure feel the extra weigh specially when cornering, my E90 didn't have a sunroof or too many extras and pulled harder it seems for now, but does not bother me as long as I have the intoxicating sound of the V8 engine singing thought my AA pipes.

This is what you are paying for in an M3. You pay extra money over a 3 series to get these benefits.

THEN, you pay BMW extra money to cut off your roof and b piller, destroying the rigidity and structural firmness of the car, you pay extra to add a considerable amount of weight and throw off the perfect weight balance which the handling and performance is dependent on (also dependent on the structure that has now been tampered with), all for putting the roof down?

So here is the math... You pay a nice price for perfectly balanced performance car THEN you pay extra to tamper with that perfect balance.

I just dont get it. I dont mean this in ANY offensive way at all and I really hope it does not sound that way. Again, I just dont think I really get the concept.

EDIT: If I ever wanted a BMW vert, I would get a 328vert because obviously the performance does not matter as much as the joys of having the top down. Some might say "what if I want the power AND the top down?!" in that case I would suggest a 335 vert with a tune (which I would feel is still a bit of waste of money but can understanding someone wanting a powerful vert as a daily driver). But I can not understand a M3 vert.
Agree, you just don't get it.

Awesome work.

But if it came down to it, I think I'd build a custom two seater around an S65+DCT rather than pull the rear seat out of an M3. Don't get me wrong, that is awesome, but you could probably be 1000 lbs. lighter with the right chassis, no? Then again, maybe its easy to pull out the roll cage and put the seat back in if you need it.

No offense taken, but.....it all depends....I am getting my vert for LESS than you probably paid for your Coupe or Sedan. $58k through mil sales...64k spec'd out with everything they offer....
