I'm pretty sure your allowed to sign the card however you want. one time a waitress pissed me off because she kept questioning if my car was really mine because I guess she thought that I didnt look like i should have an Amex gold card. So when she gave me my credit card slip, I signed it "(First Name) F. U. (Last Name)".

The signature on the back of the card does not have to match the embossed name but your signature on the sales slip does have to match the signature on the card.

Does anyone even sign the back of their card anymore? I'm a cashier and probably 98% of the credit cards are not signed on the back. Alot of them do say "Check ID" on the strip where their signature is supposed to be tho.

FWIW... a card that is not signed is not valid. See ID is not a substitute for a signature. If a card is not signed, you are supposed to have the customer sign it, show ID, check the signature against the one on the ID, and then have the customer sign the receipt. Accepting an unsigned card opens the merchant up to liability on a disputed charge. You are also NOT supposed to ask for ID when the card is signed.

I've never signed one or two of mine, and never had a problem. It does say it's not valid if it isn't signed, but my signature has changed lately anyway.

That little strip for signatures isn't big enough for me to even attempt a sig, never mind that fact that I can't find a pen that reliably writes on the strip.
