Assuming you're talking about a C6, the vette would win by a mile. The C5 (previous generation) Z06 would be a driver's race.

I used to own a c6 z06.... awesome car. Handled like a dream and was fast! factory with dr's and a good driver it can run a 10.9 bone stock except for the tires. However it wasnt very comfortable. Very rough and loud on any road! You heard every single road resonating through the car. Also interior etc. was very cheap compared to the m. As you can see i own an m now for a reason. Unless its a dedicated track car def. m3. I do miss the Z sometimes though.

I mean its pretty obvious, the M3 would destroy the Z06. Why don't you compare the M3 to cars that are in its class? Like the Enzo and the Veyron.

Depends on the driver? I've had my M3 on the track with a new Z06 and neither of us saw the other (he didn't catch me, I didn't catch him) during 25 minute sessions at Road Atlanta. Since I literally never saw him I really don't have any idea how he was driving. I believe that I caught and passed every other car in my group so he must have been passing people too and couldn't have been babying it too much.
With equally competent drivers I believe the Z06 would handily win but I've never seen a direct comparison. It could be that when each car is driven by average drivers (myself included) that neither is faster than the other. If you are asking, this information is probably more helpful than knowing that in the hands of a professional the Z06 is faster. |

I think when you make the choice to buy an M3, you make a choice to buy a more rounded car for the price of being beaten by the Z06 at any given time
