HANS Sizing Advice
I was just curious if anyone could give me some real-world sizing thoughts on the HANS. I am going to be getting the Sport II.
I wear a 16 1/2" collar shirt, but they fit comfortably and could probably get by with a 16" if I wanted it snug. I'm not sure if it matters, but I wear a 42" jacket. I am straddling the line between medium and large. Any suggestions? Thanks. |

You really should go try one on if you can. Based on your neck size both Medium and Large could work. My guess is if your neck is between 16-16.5 the medium should be fine.
M= neck size 13.5"-17", L=neck size 16"-20" |

Thanks. I gave HMS a call and they suggested the adjustable in a large. The guy I spoke with is of similar weight and build to myself and that's what he uses. Apparently the angle and size of the E46 headrest drives to either the Model 30 Sport (not Sport II) or the Sport Adjustable. Opted for the adjustable so that I can continue to use it in this car with these seats or future cars/aftermarket seats.

Good choice on the adjustable. While 20 degrees tends to work for a lot of people in most circumstances you need something that will be comfortable and fit for the application you need. I know people who need 30 degrees and have a similar size neck to me and I use 20 degrees. How it fits on you and over your shoulders is the key.
Good luck! |
