Dealer has allocation for an early April delivery (WITH 19" and M-DCT)

Here's the response I just got back from the Internet Sales Manager: "Thank you for your interest in BMW and the new 2008 M3. Yes I have the allotment and I can schedule a European Delivery for that date of April 8 2008. I would need you to fill out a credit application and make a deposit of $1000.00 to start. This order might require a larger deposit once submitted to BMW FS just to let you know."

You guys think this is for real? And what in the hell is he talking about, BMW FS might require a larger deposit? Doesn't the dealer decide that?

Sounds kinda sketchy...so far i have a production # and a build week and i only have given my guy $500 for the refundable deposit. He hasnt asked me for any additional money.

Some dealers require a large deposit that is refundable until the car goes to an unchangeable status. The M3 may not be the case with many dealers because of it's current popularity. I know that one dealer near me requires a $5k deposit. Again, it is refundable until the car is scheduled for production.

It sounds like what you are looking for, right? You should look in to it further. I don't know what FS means.

The dealer I am currently working with hasn't asked for any deposit, but that's likely because they know they will sell it if I back out.

Yea. Follow it up. Theres no reason why he might not have allocation for a M-DCT/19" car for March production ... not all cars got moved to April !!! Report back ... we'll all be interested to hear how you got on.

My dealer just had a spot open for the 10th week (status 112). As soon as he changed the order for a customer to add the 19's and DCT it went to a May build.

Damn that sucks, i dont understand why some orders dont get pushed back while other orders do. Does it depend on the time of the order or just luck??

Yeah, at that point why not wait for an '09. You won't have the car until July.

I think most of us got pushed into April. I think only Davo2003 car is the only one I know of on here that is still March production with 19" and M-DCT. Good for him ..... the rest of us weren't so lucky !! ;-)

My SA is off today so ill give him a call tomorrow to see if i got bumped. But according to BMW NA they still say im scheduled for week 11 with no delay...however on Owners Circle tracking it still says i am on order. My guess is that i got bumped into April...
