I agree with the OP's main idea.

I know of people who drive with the DSC on but then fight it by increasing their throttle when the nanny light comes on... basically reinforcing bad driving habits which will be costly if the DSC is ever switched off.

Cars still do have 400 bhp and no TC. Take most TVR's as an example and they end up in hedge rows.
