Seen this a few times now - great car. Took a peak at it this year at the autoshow. Gearhead and I were very very fortunate to see the prototype last year at Mid Ohio!

Another review in Autoblog.

Apparently the rear brakes begin to smoke after 3 laps.
WTF are these idiots thinking. You launch a dedicated Track Car, and the brakes are good for 3 laps. Sounds like they hired the same engineers that conjured up the Z06. American mindset and Ingenuity.

http://www.autoblog.com/2011/02/24/2...-drive-review/

A few times the cars came in with smoke coming from the rear, and we couldn't do more than three or four really hard laps before they needed a cool down. Track addicts take note: new pads and maybe an aftermarket set of rear brakes should be on your shopping list.

Interesting - I would have thought Ford would have already addressed the pads with the "Press Package" and let real buyers figure that out on their own.

You have obviously never been around the automotive press at a launch event.I have many times and the majority of them have the driving skills of the great unwashed. There are exceptions to this and they are very rare in the community of jounalists that attend these days.
But on the same note if the goal was to match the M3 capabilities,it looks like they met the goal as far as braking was concerned

Actually I have been to a few, because I have press credentials.
I do agree regarding the press and their driving skills, but driving skills or not,
I was at a Porsche PDK event that involved repeated 0-100-0 with 30 journalists back to back, no brake fade, and the transmission was perfect after all the
6000 rpm launches.

And how much was the Porsche prick thing that you talk about?A Boss with the Torsen & Recaros lists for $52600 with car cover. The Grand am cars run the same brakes so I am sure it is only a pad and brake cooling which is all available through Ford Motorsport for reasonable dollars.

Special Advertising Section television. Has some value, but you have to take it for hour long advertisement that it is.
