Lol. Why? If you bought a home you love or a house at a good price; that's all that really matters. Congrats on your new house!

Yeah, fortunately the fourth floor is just a second master so we use it as a guest suite only. If the whole house were over two or even three floors it would be ideal. Really, though, we're in a walking community with great schools filled with young families so even the 6+k sq.ft. Single family homes on my street/community are tall and have no yard...there's always a compromise somewhere.

I contemplated weather or not to post in here; i did so in hopes to bring some normalcy into the thread. Built this with my wife in 2009. The design process was fun. It was nice being able to design into the house those small details i've always wanted.

Funny that i haven't taken any pics of it since it was built. This was even before the garage doors were painted... and before i dropped the M3.
That is a sweet pool!

Thanks, I was trying to be frugal with buying a 1950s fixer-upper but i think i got in over my head. Its going to cost about half the value of the house to get it to where i want. But it's in a good neighborhood and my sister lives directly across the street.

I really haven't taken any pics since moving in. Just a few, most are from the building process or just about finished.

Kitchen......

To the OP, one of the things we did with the kitchen was to buy a built in subzero fridge, like a big one, 24 cubic ft. That's all fridge, no freezer. We got a smaller 15 cubic ft freezer with ice maker and put it in the pantry. Made some more space in the kitchen and love having so much fridge space.

One of the game room.....

My regret with this room was making it smaller to save some money. Would have rather kept it the way it was which would have made room for a foosball table as well. Now it's just a little too large for just a pool table and a little too small to add anything else.

Living room / Slate wall....

This room is separated by the kitchen by a half wall, the kitchen was fairly dramatic so we applied slate to this wall to balance the drama. It's one of the most talked about features of most people who visit. Before the new sofas arrived. We ended up getting 3 matching sofas for this space. Makes for a cozy place for lots of people.

Just make sure not to overbuild for whatever the neiborhood is, but also dont underbuild to whatever you will need in the future (i.e. "damn, im going to need to add on to the addition"). There is definitely a point of diminishing return when it comes to interior finishings. Other than that, just have fun with the build and make sure you enjoy it!

Again, congrats!

Nice kitchen. The wolf range is a good call, and the built-in subzeros really add some class to a kitchen space. There is something so nice about not having to look at a big ugly fridge just because you are in the kitchen area.

I've gotten a few requests so here's my place. 16K square feet, basketball court, tennis court and pool (not pictured because I've rented them out to the rotary club) and my neighbor DD's Ferraris. I've censored out a few things so I don't reveal where I live for fear of being tracked down. My parents would kill --- I mean, I like my privacy.

Thanks. Love the wolf range, 6 burners. We picked a simple wolf hood with the blower motor in the attic so it runs quite. The wolf double ovens are awesome! Love having garlic bread in one and a pizza in the other.

I ran into the Wolf/SubZ regional rep when we started building the house. She took a liking to me and gave us a smoking deal on those items. She basically gave us $22k of appliance for $9500! Pal of mine owns an appliance store and said that was much less than what she sells him model home appliances for.

Booth / Dining table....

This is a project i did on mine own. When making some of the spaces smaller we kind of nixed the opportunity to have a normal dining room set up. So i decided to make a booth on 2 sides of a custom table making enough room. Back of the booth is walnut and the table top is aged copper with a band of virgin copper around the edges. I've since redone the chair cushions to match the booth cushion.

My place...

It's not much from the outside, but it does the trick and meets my only real requirement (minimum 2 car garage). To be honest, my wife and I have been talking about using it as a rental and moving in to something a bit smaller (total ft.sq. is about 3200 over four floors) with more usable square footage (fewer bedrooms, more living *******.

Growing up, my dad was one of those guys who made pretty darn good money for as long as i can remember, but we lived in the same modest house our entire lives and he still lives there today...I guess I take a page from his book in that regards...

If you want to see the crazy houses, I can post pics of my In-laws places I don't think they've every built anything less than 11k ft.sq. and the finishing is AMAZING (they are some of the best luxury homebuilders around the dc area (Potomac, Bethesda etc.)
I live around that area, and I would love to see some pictures.

Don't jump to conclusions there buddy. yeah my dad helped me buy my 3rd car when I was 17 big deal(jealous much?). but believe me I paid for a majority of it. As for mods 100% my money. and I have just about half the worth of your car into in modifications and can probably train lengths on you Never taken my car to the dealer and perform all the work my self. and made a living out of it. and if I ever want to stop working Its back to working for daddy and daddy's money. got about a year left with premed then moving to med school then ill be leeching off daddys money with school being paid for with my grades.
people on this forum really need to chill it with age shit its getting annoying.
ur about 5 years older than me... in 5 years when im your age. ill be making 6 figures easy. im 19 almost done with pre-med. anesthesiologist when im 25-26.

Lol..you know nothing about nothing....

There are no scholarships for grades for medical colleges...everyone's smart

Did you start college at 16??

if not...The earliest that most graduate med school is 24 (and that's in a combined 6 yr BS/MD program...which you are not in) ..... But then you need to complete a 4 yr anesthesia residency....since math isn't your strong point...I'll help....28 is the earliest it gets....most are done at 30

And that $150 k salary you are going to start at ain't shit

i remember when america celebrated wealth and success

so the kid has attitude, maybe his calculations are off by a few years. but, 150k is pretty easily the top 3% of earners. compared to the ~20% underemployed/unemployed in america and the 50% who are net in debt, not bad

kinda funny, tell a story about all the bitches you've scammed and you're a hero. throw a few hard earned dollars around and you're scum.

btw, i'm a retired millionaire (and that's all i'm going to admit to).
