There is a reason why BBS, Rays/Volk, Forgeline, etc., are so expensive. They've been around for 15, 20, or 30 years, are built to the highest standards, and are trusted by race teams.

More informed decision? Im not trying to sounds rude but i said in my first post that these wheels came with the car. I didn't "decide" i wanted these wheels. The wheels on a car is not the most important decision or deciding factor to me (transmission, mileage, color, interior, options etc. are more important). And i was not planning on keeping these anyway.

Just sucks cause i was planning on selling them and now im not gonna get nearly what i could have unless i get a replacement wheel or something.

If I sounded rude I could see where you could get that. All I was getting at was feel lucky even if they came on the car you need to know what they are.

Also finding another one and selling the set after posting one broke online could set you up for a lawsuit if another one breaks. just a thought

As for these wheels being "forged" it does not look as if this particular wheel is as it cracked in the drop center. The wheel may have a "forged" center but this one has a cast outer. Sounds like they changed they way stuff is made though.

Those OEM wheels that you hold in such high regard have to be made by someone...a wheel company...like BBS for example.

The moral of this thread shouldn't be don't buy aftermarket wheels, it should be don't buy CRAPPY aftermarket wheels.

Most multi piece forged wheels are made of forged centers and spun outers. The cost to forge multiple pieces and then put them together as a multi piece wheel would be through the roof because of all the waste that would be associated with the forged outer pieces.

Basically, if you don't see in real races (F1, DTM, Le Mans etc), don't buy.

I don't see any reason to get rid of strong, safe OEM wheels (for so cheap) then spend high $$ to get these junk wheels.

or this is the true meaning of buy one, get one free deal.
In this case, you shouldn't complain as you got the real deal.

I understand the spun outer that most wheels have. These are cast as in junk chinese cast. You know like bling rims cast. gravity fed cast. A spun outer would never crack like that there. Maybe around the bolts but not there.

You can tell by looking at the picture that it was one piece to begin with.

Wonder what he paid for these wheelz? I think when you replace $6-$8k forged wheels with aftermarket for under 1K you run this risk.

Like i previously mentioned, and also posted in response on this page, the car came with the wheels, but some people do not like to read the threads or give relevant input.

So once more i will give a quick explanation about these wheels. Car was purchased with the black wheels on now, and the Iconz set on the side. Only reason i put the Iconz on was because my black set had a flat and i quickly swapped them out so i would have a car to drive. Before i was able to get new tires and put the black ones on, this happened to the Iconz wheels. I was planning on selling them as 20" was too large for my area and the black 19" to me looked good and where better to daily drive.

Hopefully others like yourself will read this before posting uselss comments.

It's fine. Just that a lot of people have been making useless comments about me purchasing these wheels and other stuff that has nothing to do with the situation. Also, if you read my last post above, it will explain a little more about why these wheels were even on the car.

The original owner didn't skimp on the money, he/she just didn't get quality wheels. It's pretty common.

yeah, thats what i was getting at. you buy a $70k car that had countless engineering hours into it, and you buy some wheel that was designed and engineering in hours with cheap materials. i just don't understand

After seeing all this wheel debacle threads of late..I am more convinced than ever OEM is the way to go. Most failures seem to involve 20"+ wheels.

Regardless, you almost never see an "oh I cracked my style 220..359" type thread..I cant even remember one.

There's a class action lawsuit against BMW for 6 series wheel failures so OEM wheels do fail.

I was speaking specifically about our cars..but thats good to know..i wasnt aware of that.

Im sure plus sized wheels dont help the cause either
