Angel eyes don't work sometimes?

I feel a bit stupid right now because I can't find the search option on the mobile app and I don't have access to any computer right now so hopefully I don't get flamed for asking this.
I just realized one of my angel eyes keeps going on and off every once in a while. I was wondering if anyone knew the reason or a fix for this? This started happening a day ago. When I start the car it normally doesn't work and by the time I stop driving it's back on again.

No error messages? I've had angel eyes go bad in my 550 and got error messages... Was simply a bad bulb both times which was changed by the dealer under warranty.

I think the dealership disabled the code because I replaced mine with alpine Angel eyes and it was causing false errors. The place I got the angel eyes installed at told me it was a problem Many have but he didn't say if he knew how to fix it. If it's an easy fix I don't want to bring my car back to the shop.

Ahh. Sorry, didn't realize they were not OEM angel eyes. Afraid I won't be much help!

So I did a quick test and it seems the issue is somehow effected by the gas pedal? I push the gas pedal down and let go real quick and the angel eyes would flash on and go out after a second. Tried pushing the gas pedal down longer and it stayed on for longer before going out again. Any ideas? Does this possibly have to do with the resistor?

I have Alpines and you shouldn't get any fault codes if installed correctly. As for your issue, check the grounding point. A bad grounding will cause the lights to on and off erratically.

I'll check that out thanks!

I was a bit confused too. I saw on the forums alpine aren't supposed to give errors but i went to the dealership because I was getting a rear taillight error and they said it was caused by the angel eyes.

I had the exact same problem with Alpine. They were installed correctly and working for about a year. Then...the problem up and started.
My emails to Apline to try to trouble shoot a solution were initially answered and then ignored. After a month of no response from them...and continued intermittent functionining of the passenger side angel eye...I got fed up and removed their kit.
Good luck getting any customer support from them.

The dealership won't/can't disable codes.

I'm going through a similar scenario. Mine were installed for 8ish months and started acting up. I checked connections and emailed Alpine. They were very responsive initially trying to get me to remove and ship them the parts for repair. I asked for additional troubleshooting steps and haven't heard back. Luckily, they haven't been acting up since, but I know it is just a matter of time.

Hmm that's odd I asked the advisor how it was fixed and she said it was disabled.

Anything's possible I guess, but I highly, highly doubt it.

I had Alpine HIDs in also and they seem to work for about a year before they start crapping out on you. Bottom line is I removed them and put in Luxs. I would recommend against buying HID kit from Alpine.

ii brought it to a nearby shop and they told me its most likely the resistor thats causing the problem. I dont know anything about electrical connections and all but he said something about its not generated the correct voltage because of the resistor and that the angel eyes will only work when it sees a certain voltage. Im going to try asking for a replacement resistor or just add the additional on if they give it to me. I know adding a second one will reduce the resistance so im hoping this will fix the problem.

One of mine was going out a while ago and Alpine sent me upgraded resistors. How old is your kit? It should have come with the new resistors because I think they just made the upgraded resistor the standard.

Coincidently both of my angel eyes went out yesterday. I checked the inline fuse and the plastic around the metal was melted. I think it was resting against a really hot part of the engine bay.

I bought it back in May.

I contacted Alex on monday and he said something about a failsafe component that keeps shutting it off. With my case it works fine when the ignition is on but once i start the car thats when the passenger side turns off. He seemed very confident it was a bulb issue so ill be getting a replacement soon. Ill keep this post updated incase anyone else has the same issue.

It was the passenger side for me too when they shipped me the updated resistor. The melted fuse was the culprit of the latest outage. Replace and working like a champ.
