My new M3 at vir

What a blast !! 100% bone stock!! Pouring rain track wet as hell ! What blast to drive at the Porsche club Event! Flat out smoking the p cars! All my old buds.. This is the first time I have driven her this will be a fun car to modify ..
Ran some 2:16 in wet in traffic. .. I smell potential

deffinitely different from my GT3's but sure is fun!!!

My first time at VIR in the wet in an M3 too. It's very well balanced isn't it? It was my first time to run in the rain and it was a lot of fun. Obviously have to be more gentle with the controls but it's all very controllable. I'm sure my times are way off yours (I thought most clubs including PCA don't allow lap timing), but there's nothing like a little sideways drift at the top of the climbing esses to add to the fun.

No, I wish I were. I was at VIR last November in the rain. Have a nice time. Maybe you'll have nice weather tomorrow as down here in Columbia it's beautiful, 60s and sunny.

Don't you post on 6speed as well? Nice looking GT3. I am debating trading my M3 for a 997.1 GT3.

Man, that's smokin' for a wet track! A slightly-better-than-stock E36 struggles to do 2:18's in the dry.

as someone who's been looking forward to owning 997.2 gt3 next, could you give me/us some feedback? i mean obviously m3 can't compare to porsche's "street legal racecar", but now close/far is it since you seem quite impressed with the m3

I post on Six Speed and Rennlist same name.. but for starters lets do quick History..

previous cars:
996 GT3 2 x
997 Gt3 3 x
997 GT3 RS 2 x
996 gt3 Cup car 2 x
996 Gt2 full out modified car sub 2:00 at VIR with carpet AC leather and radio
997 GT2
Ford GT with 700 whp
997.2 GT3

I have had my GT3'S i just got complacent with them , they are wonderful cars and everyone in the world should own once in their life!!!! they are such a blast to drive!!! you feel everything! so nimble steering is so precise, power so linier, you cant have any better brakes...
in a turn the more power you apply the more grip!

Bottom line was i wanted to try something different for a while.. I took a 130k car traded for 50 k put somemoney in the bank and still have a smile on my face!

The M3 is a great car .. fun to drive nice note.. but it will not ever be a GT3.. as i said before if you love cars you should try a Gt3 sometime in your life they are remarkable!

my plan is to build a race car out of the M3 thats was the purpose in buying it.. but for now i can put my kids in the back and have a great ride..

if its pouring rain i car run it at the track no worries.. I am totally impressed with the M3 .. bang for buck factor! is perfect! I do get a smile eveytime i push the start button... I do own a pretty well prepared E36 also!

you might get a kick out of some of the photos of cars ..

Wow. I know there are cars in Raleigh, but that's an impressive list. My first real HPDE and my first track experience in the M3 was in the rain on the full course. The second day was dry. I wouldn't mind going back in the wet, but it was a pretty harrowing first time. I'm planning on doing at least one event over the summer.

Isn't Porsche just a next step from BMW?
Never drove any "serious" P. car tho .

E36 FTW , if i just had 2 of them would love to do the same .
