**do Not Buy This Used M3** Nor Cal
Attention fellow M3 enthusiasts. I want to give everyone the heads up NOT to purchase this car.
http://www.autosale777.com/2008_BMW_M3__4DOOR.html This was my old M3 that was BOUGHT BACK by BMWNA. There is more to the story than the iPod connector issue that I can not mention. Please pass the word around if you know anyone looking at used M3's.

wow, thanks for the full disclosure. You think a VIN number run through BMWNA will detail the issue? I'm not buying it, just wondering for anyone interested.

That's hilarious. Wonder what idiot would believe that BMW would buy back a car due to the ipod issue?? Does it really still have a factory warranty with whatever the real issue is with it?

beside carfax, is there any other services a person can run the vin # to find out the history on the car?
Cause, i found some good clean E92 M3s at Carmax. I am just wondering whether they had some issues in the past or not. |

I'm always leery of cars at Carmax. Why would someone sell their car there? Most people I know only sell their cars there if they have beat on them since Carmax will take almost anything. May be the minority but who knows.

^dealers use auto check because there is auction information disclosure
If you are good with a SA then they can run it through the BMW system.

I am guessing it has main bearing issues based on a previous post....
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...2#post10549202 I think there is at least one long thread about this on here...sounds like a few had their crankshaft and bearings replaced multiple times. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...hlight=bearing |

I almost sold my E93 328i to Carmax. Dealer offered $27k, Carmax offered $30k. I decided to wait a few months then try to sell the car on my own a month before the new car gets here and got $32k (+ a few months of not needing to pay for a rental).

Yeah I have heard where they are willing to pay more for a car, so that could be it as well.

Why can't you mention it? Lol don't warn us without the full story. My 2011 had a blown engine after 5 weeks of ownership but I'm never selling the car so it doesn't matter. FULL story or don't try to be the hero and save the community.

don't you think the OP would share details if he could? he probably signed an NDA as a condition to the buyback and doesn't want to be overly specific and risk breaching the NDA.
either way, he's clearly doing the forum a service whether or not we know the details. |

Wow, anyone should be leary of a place that says a car was bought back simply for an iPod connector issue.
Almost as difficult to believe as, "Oh it has a salvage title, but it was only a minor accident! Really, you have nothing to worry about!"
