Had this kit installed a couple of weeks ago to replace the Brembo 380 setup and despite not being able to take it to the track yet, I must say that this is one lightweight kit!!! Looking forward to putting it to the test!
Thanks Essex!

For any of you who own an e46 M3, or have a friend with one, we'll be releasing our six piston kit for that car before the end of the summer. Specs will be roughly the same as our e92 M3 kit. We had one in the other week for test fitment.

this is the kit i am likely going to buy depending on how much the essex radical system costs. i would like to get both the front and the rear, but i will probably have to just buy the fronts first.
if i track occasionally, would it be ok to run this kit up front with the oem rear brakes? would i need to run matching pads? how should i pair the two? i'm running 275 squared Rcomp tires.

also, how would a street pad perform (like hawk HPS) with the essex ap racing setup at the track? i know it would be easy to swap out pads, but i'm curious if its not advised... like a pencil eraser against sand paper

I must say, the amount of technical information in this thread just is amazing. I'll give you a call when I am ready to make the move to a new brake kit.

Thanks for the tip. I don't think I'm allowed to post in that section unfortunately...only M3 I believe. Feel free to share it there if you'd like though.

The front Radi-CAL Pro5000R kits will range in price from $4099-$4499, depending on which caliper is chosen.

Our front brake kits are designed to very closely mimic the OEM torque output on the front axle. That is accomplished by carefully sizing the discs and caliper pistons. For example, if we increase the disc diameter in our kit vs. stock, we decrease the overall piston area to produce the same overall torque output as the factory setup. As such, installing our front kit on your car will only have a negligible impact on brake bias. In most cases, the shift in brake bias is only in the 2-3% range. To put that in perspective, installing a more aggressive brake pad compound in your factory front calipers would typically have a greater impact on brake bias than installing our front kit while keeping the OEM front pad compound.

Since our systems closely mimic the factory brake torque output on a given axle as described above, they have no noticeable impact on ABS, stability control, torque vectoring, etc. The brake pedal will feel much better due to lower compliance, and the brakes will take a far greater beating for considerably longer. You won't have any wonky ABS issues however.

You can treat the iron discs in our kit just as you would any brake discs from other manufacturers. They run well with just about any type of pad. The J hook slot pattern falls somewhere between standard straight slots and drilled discs, in terms of how aggressively they wear pads.

It is worth mentioning here that if you intend on using this kit on the street be sure to order anti-rattle clips for the front pads...hopefully Essex will have a solution for the rears soon!

What about a sale on the E92 M3 version of the kit?

I'll post some nice lap times, pics and full review vs stock calipers with race pads if you want to help me out

We invited our friend/client, Dave, to join us for a weekend of tracking at Road America. He trailered his car down all the way from PA to join us for the weekend.

Last year, we set him up with the front Essex/AP Racing Competition BBK utilizing the AP Racing CP5060 Caliper and 355mm Rotor. He ended up completing the kit with the rear Essex/AP Racing Competition BBK as well. Always great to hear positive feedback from him on the kit and most of all, seeing him rip it out there on the track!

Keep up the great work Jeff and everyone at Essex and AP!

I ordered the full kit (F&R plus pads) from one of the resellers that deals with international orders - thanks for the intro Jeff.

I'm looking forward to seeing the parts but will have a wait for the install (Mar-16) as part of a larger piece of work.

I can't believe I just saw this post for the first time. A great time and a great trip! And the brakes worked flawlessly at Road America, which is really hard on brakes.

Hello Gents,
I hope you're all off to a great start in 2016. We had a great year in 2015 as we finally got hot and heavy in the BMW market. Thank you all for your continued support! We've been extremely busy over the winter. We launched our new website, filmed some cool technical videos on our products (below), and are plowing our way through a great deal of R&D on a variety of BMW platforms.

You can follow our latest developments on our blog and on our Facebook page. Please 'like' our FB page if you haven't yet done so!

Who is Essex?

Have you ever wondered who was on the other end of the line when you call Essex for brake advice? In this video we give you a peek behind the curtain, and show you some of the tools we use to bring you the latest brake technology on the planet.

AP Racing J Hook Brake Discs

What design elements and features make our discs the most trusted choice in professional and amateur motorsports? Find out how our discs can help you lower temperatures, weight, and lap times.

Ferodo Racing Brake Pads

Ferodo is an OEM supplier to the world's leading car manufacturers, and are used by many of the top names in motorsports. The Ferodo Racing pad range includes some of the most advanced braking materials available today.

AP Racing Radi-CAL Brake Fluid

Finally...here is your gratuitous brake porn pic of the day...a batch of AP Racing Radi-CAL brake calipers in for re-certification. You can click here to read more about what we do with these beauties when they arrive at our HQ.
