m3 vs x5m?

so i currently have a e90 m3 and have been thinking about getting into something a little more of a cruiser...

my real question is..

have any of you gone from the m3 to the x5m? any regrets?

my plan is to pick up another m3 in the sometime near future but for now this is what im leaning towards...

thanks for your help in advanced!

Completely different type of vehicle. Really can't compare, but if you need the funtionality, it will provide enough thrills to satisfy. I don't have an X5M, but I do have a Cayenne GTS, and if it had to be my only vehicle, I could be satisfied with it.

I have an M3 and a regular middle of the line E70 X5 and love it. If I only had an X5 or X5M I would be fine. I drive my X5 more than my M3 anyway.

Hey Alex!

I tossed around the idea as well, but at the end of the day decided I don't really need an SUV.. That said, the X5 ///M would be my first and only choice. They are simply amazing.

Hope all is well.

LOVE the X5M!!! The power is insane but the handling is what got me. Handles like a 3-series car except you can run over curbs and stuff also lol...while carrying 5 people, a dog and luggage. Launching the thing from a dead stop is rain is sooo much fun as well.

Almost just bought one for my wife (I have 2 cars already) as I was looking for a vehicle with a 6,000+lbs gross vehicle rating for an accelerated tax deduction and the X5 qualifies

In the end just couldn't justify the extra cost of the M for the wife (who doesn't even work and just drives to the store and yoga) so I went with the non-M version.

Stock it's faster than the M3 in certain situations....off the line, and at low RPMs. Definitely better in traffic and as a daily driver.

Go for it bro.

Do you need a cruiser or an SUV, because there's a lot of cars that would be better cruisers and an even better at delivering the performance for around the same price!? (Panamera S, RS7, M6 GC)

Personnally I don't see the point of buying a high performance SUV, it does'nt do a great job at being a sports car, neither at being an SUV! Also the X5 is being replace this year so it's a bit sad to buy one now! I say if you need an SUV, buy a real one with a diesel and keep the M3, if you want a cruiser, replace the M3 with the not too expensive Audi S7 and put the APR tune which bring the car to 560hp 600lb-ft(GT-R performance in a luxury/sport car), you'll save a lot of money and have a lot more fun!! Just my opinion!

Have fun with the shopping!

I love the x5m....

That said, for the money, I'd take an x5 50i and something like a z4m for the same money.

The x5 looks awesome with the sport package with 315 tires in the back, and I definitely want to add an x5 50i soon along with my 1m

I'm fortunate enough to have both! I love my x5m. I thought about trading it in for an m3 or new m5 but after driving both I realized the x5m is too perfectly practical.

But the it dawned on me that I didn't have a convertible, so I got the m3 in a drop top. I don't think I've ever driven it with the top up!!

I could live with one, assuming I had something like cheap track prepped E30-E46 for fun as well. With a tune and downpipes you have an 11 second daily driver, but the gas and overall 'i'm in a tank' feeling will always leaving you wanting something the purists would approve of.

We use to have a 4.8iS and not only could it tow my M3 to the track it was an 'acceptable' torrential down poor track car (when the M3 was on slicks). It was amazing how many cars I could pass on Road Atlanta in the rain, in the advanced solo run group in that thing

Alex, send a PM to Dom55....he just sold his SSII e90 and picked up an SSII X5M. He seems happy with the move.

I have one and it's fun and amazing and all. Absolutely no regrets. But whenever I get in my friends' m3's I just say wow the x5m is just no where near an m3 driving pleasure wise and performance wise.
But it's a great car if you want practical and unnecessary power

I'm thinking about doing the same thing. KWV3's, Velos tune, wheels and you are all set. I plan to get another M3 in a couple of years.
