USED 2012 M3, 3K miles, $66K, Fair Deal???

Greetings!!!
Recently saw a pristine 2012 M3 Coupe with 3,000 miles (1 owner). Dealer is standing firm at $66,000.
Details/Options: ZCP(Comp Package), ZPP(Prem Package), M-DCT, SAT radio, Premium Sound, Extended Leather, Metallic Paint. Suggested Retail $75,900.

So what are your thoughts on $66,000? Walk away or Hello M3?

You should consider European Delivery and get a 2013 much cheaper than that, IMO...

Pristine as it may be, it will not be more pristine than one rolling off the showroom floor with you as the first owner. I am paying roughly that for my 2012 ordered back in March. I don't have DCT, SAT radio, or premium sound which would result in a ~$5k difference, i still could not validate purchasing that vehicle.

I will tell you that i was roughly in the same position as you, my deal was a little worse (http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=654352) but I can tell you i feel much more secure in my decision of purchasing one new, customized exactly as i wanted. As Technic said, ED will be even better of a deal. Just my .02.

No way. You can buy that exact car with 0 miles on it for about $71K (93% of MSRP).

Was the asking price 75k? How much did they budge? Why did the previous owner get rid of it after only 3k miles?

Technic:
Unfortunately ED is not an option for me. Heard it worked out great for many. Not enticed by the 2013 nor the wait.

jc05e46m3:
I agree with you 100% that a new one from showroom being more pristine. However, I've been there, done that before (Brand Spankin' New). Not a priority or deal breaker for me anymore. One owner cars that have been gently broken in (3000 miles +/-) are not an issue for me. Now comparing your March purchase is worth raising an eyebrow. Everything that you do not have are exact options that I desire. So that ~$5K would have to be factored in somewhere.

Longboarder:
I guess the question then is how much of a dollar amount should be attached to the 3,000 miles of usage? If 0 miles warrants $71K, what does 3,000 miles equate to? Is roughly $55K the price it should be discounted to due the accumulated mileage? Are dealers letting these go for that deep of discount once they have had a title and clocked 3,000 +/- miles? The crazy thing is that this car is "exactly" how I would have built/ordered if purchased brand new!!!!!

MotorWerksParts:
The asking price presented to me was $69,910. They budged $3910 ($69,910-$66,000). Assuming if the original owner got lucky and got 8% off of the Retail of $75,945, then $69,869 (possibly invoice) was initial sale. Clearly my initial asking price was a joke (insult). Now the question is whether taking another 7% off of $69,869 due to its used status fair or not? Appears that owner averaged 600 miles/month.

All:
Your feedback has been very insightful. Will rethink my thoughts and weigh best options.

1. It is not only by 3k that warranty is eaten away. Look at the the purchase date. If it was early 2012 you could have a car that has 3 years of warranty left, not 4. That's potentially 25% less time.

2. Givig 3-5k more for new car with exact options you want and 0 miles is worth it. In reselling you will be the original 1-owner, which carries a premium.

3. Could be 3k miles on the track. You do not know the history. If you are already shelling out that money, then buy a new one with known history. It is silly.

4. Multiple dealers now offer these car at $500-1k over invoice.

5. Having a last year production model with desirable options carries a premium when selling, e.g. '06 ZCP E46 M3 always carry 20% premium easily if in interlagos blue, 6-speed ...not matter what the mileage, simply because it is last year and ZCP.

I'd offer $61k. Average "appliance" cars like accord, taurus take a 20-25% plunge you drive them off the lot. You are being generous at 7%. Go with 15% or so.
