lets talk Europe to United States Launch Lag...

I just spoke to my dealer about the E92 M3.... Looks like they do not know the production or launch anymore and they said they start allocations 4 months before Launch of the M3 (that means they will know everything about the car) So i guess we have more than 6 months till the car launches in the United States .. But i did ask him a few history questions about the M models and he said that Dont expect a certain launch date fo ra long time on the E92 M because the M5 had almost a year lag on the United States Delivery but the M6 had only 2 month lag (that maybe because it is the same engine and emissions as the M5 so they got it finished)
He heard that they are working on United States emissions to keep the waiting time short...

P.S.
he said M3 is hardtop (as he heard from his sources) and is about 70k

History

All we really have to go on is history.

E46 M3

M5/M6

The deal with the M5 was that there was a definite delay (after Geneva) of about 6 months due to some production or engineering issue. Not sure what the lengthy delay of M6 Europe vs. M6 US. So the delay after EU availability either way looks not good. I do, however, remember reading a small blurb recently in R&T/C&D/MT that there may be a push by BMW to have EU/US launches closer together or perhaps simultaneously.

Either way all the best evidence points to Q3/Q4 launch in EU followed by Q1/Q2 launch in US.

I'm guessing convertible. Because that would make more sense but still on the high side.
