M performance is so much better for daily use and keeps the car sounding classy IMO. Has more of an exotic mild tone than the all out race car sound of the AA setup.

I am shocked but very pleased that I experience absolutely no drone even with the test pipes! The AA drone was felt under ~2krpm which sucked around town and definitely drew the wrong attention from cops. Keep in mind I had a catless Xpipe as well. I daily drive 3000 / month and the AA setup started to give me a headache.

I have heard the M performance unit with stock midsection and it was a very subtle increase from stock. Too subtle for my taste but definitely a nice sound. Pair it with test pipes and not only will you get better sound but a nice performance boost as well. Any future car I get for daily use will have whatever OEM performance exhaust exists + test pipes for performance.

If you want to keep the mid stock I would suggest ACM modded rear. Cheaper than M perf and sounds better if not going the test pipe route.
Thought MPE and test pipe will sound very raspy?

Different kinds of rasp also. i.e., e46 M3 sounds raspy, I love it, some hate it. E9x with an x-pipe paired to stock muffler is very raspy, I hate it, some love it. Not all rasp is created equal. So yeah, very subjective.

The concern here is with mating the test pipes with stock x pipes and ///PE exhaust. I have the ///PE exhaust and was about to buy the Turner test pipes but had to put on hold because of a different priority. It will be interesting hear some reviews and feedback. I am sure if I search there will be posts talking about this combo.

I also have the MPE, and I love it. I do agree that it should be a bit louder, however, once you pair it with an X-Pipe, it will keep it classy sounding as oppossed to abnoxious. I'm planning on mating an X-Pipe to my MPE, however, I'm torn between Dinan and AA. I'll post some vids once I make the decision.

Car has already been sold, we'll get an acceleration clip next time.

No too close. Doesn't allow the sound to travel like you'd hear it when driving by. It's like putting your ear to the bumper.

I totally agree. Drive by's are a much better representation than bumper recordings.

Hey Tom, is the LRP in this link - http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=828589 the same one in the MS track pipe clip?

Cool. Of course, you know I was busting your chops. I am close to Nikb316 and will experience the combo soon enough.

I agree totally. You've heard my MRF xpipe and stock exhaust and we both agreed to the unrefined sound and extreme rasp. But as you and Malek said, some people love it.
