2008 Nav upgrade???????

Have a 08 and wanted to update my nav. The only thing is, the 08 runs directly off the CD. Does this mean if I want to upgrade nav, do I have to buy another CD, or is it capable of loading directly to the system ??

Pretty sure there is an updated DVD you can get from your local dealer. I searched my dealer's website and they have it. It can't be loaded onto the system, there is no hard drive on the 08.

I think I've still got the old 08 disc, don't really wanna pay $179 for an updated one.

Hah! Just downloaded the 2012 Nav disc, burned to DVD+R and it works! Lemme know if you wanna do it I can walk you through it if you're unfamiliar... like I was, an hour ago.

Nope, no changes, just updated maps.
EDIT: In the other thread there's a link for 2009.1 map data with red light camera locations. But with as much construction that's been goin on where I live and the places I visit I wanted up to date maps over red light cameras.

Post #5 click the link, go to the last page on that thread, there's a link for the 2012 maps. Look through that thread and there's a ton of info along with other years maps with red light camera and police speed trap locations.

The dealers have the 2012 discs for like $180 bucks. Or do the full setup for $2000....

Click here and download the torrent file*
Click here and download MagicISO, you'll need it later
Head to a local (computer?) shop, purchase some Verbatim DVD+R disks
Using MagicISO, burn the ISO file onto a disk
Eject the old (factory) navigation DVD from within your vehicle
Insert the new (burned) copy
Let it load up, enjoy

*Seeing as you're in Texas, you only need to download BMW_NAV_2011.1_west.iso from within the torrent file.
