Flat tire (updated with new pic)
I got a TPMS warning and it started pulling hard to the right for the remainder of my trip, about 30 miles. Not run flats but it didn't come off the rim. Still able to do up to 60 mph to get home. Got every single mile out of these.
You can see the hole to the right of the steel threads sticking out!! Last edited by 4corners; 05-22-2013 at 11:54 AM.. |

these are the original Michelins that came on the car. I put new tires on the rear. Previous owner had aftermarket rims and tires. And then he put these back on when i bought the car.

You're crazy man, a flat is a flat no matter what. You should have not driven on that tire for 3 miles let alone 30. And the fact that you drove at 60 MPH for that long is just purely astonishing.
Take a step back and think about the decisions you've made |

I appreciate what you're saying but it was a judgement call based on the way it felt. It wasn't flopping around or buckling in any way. It was still rolling smoothly. I was prepared to air it up if it reached that point, but it didn't.

I got home jacked up my car and took the wheel off. Did no damage what so ever and took it to Discount and they took the tire off. Rim is in my house undamaged. You can have air in it and make it 10 miles at least. I wouldnt go much over that. Stay under 45 mph and you should be fine. This coming with a lot of experience over the years with high dollar wheels and tires and an occasional blowout. Last edited by Endless619; 05-12-2013 at 03:22 PM.. |

Sidewall should be good and destroyed from the heat generated using it with that low of pressure. Guess you were lucky not to shred it and hook a right into gaurdrail or left into oncoming traffic.
