Purchasing an E93 - Rear folding seats for E93 are not standard?

After research, my understanding was that folding backseats came standard for the E93. However, the dealer is claiming the rear seats do not fully fold down and that they only leave a small hole.

Is there any way to fully open up this section? Could I purchase the car and just have this removed? Or any sort of conversion kits?

Thanks for your help

There's a button by the rear headrest, however I heard it was an option. If you can't find it I'll take a pic of my car later for you

That would be very helpful, I appreciate it. By pressing that button, that would enable the back piece to fold down to be fully open to the trunk? The model I am looking at is a 2011.

I had a e93 before and that picture is accurate. Seats do fold down but you only get a small opening which makes it pretty useless besides to put your skis through. The e92 has what you are thinking of though, it's pretty useful with the seats folded down.

Ah man that's really a bummer.

Now I am torn again between the E92 vs E93. I would love to have a vert but this is another reason to go E92 instead.

That is a cubby hole only. You do not have access from behind the seat to the trunk. The E93 does have the ski bag option as my buddy SohoE90 has the ski bag option where you and I do not. Not all E92's have the ski bag option either FYI.

On this note, would E92 backrests fit the E93. I'm curious to allow for a 60/40 folding of the rear seat.

No way. My understanding is that the E93 rear seats are different due to the rollover protection device that triggers and rises up over the passengers heads. That is my recollection.

You are absolutely right. I had not noticed the placement of the headrest on both seat-backs, but they definitely are different. Thanks!

You can't have a pass-through in a vert. There is a lot of framing and reinforcement for the rollover protection system and the convertible top. Nothing back there is interchangeable with a coupe either.

If your deciding factor for a new car purchase is whether the rear seats fold down then IMO you're barking up the wrong tree anyway lol.

The lack of the rear seats folding down was one of the major reasons I switched from my e93 to e92. I cycle and with the e93, there was no place to put my bike. With the e92, it either fits in the trunk with the rear seats folded down, or I put it on the roof.

The whole point of a vert is you can stack things up to the lowest bridge or other obstruction you have to pass under on the way to your destination. Best christmas tree transportation available is a 4-place convertible with the top down

Your recollection is good. The convertibles all have pop-up rollbars behind each rear headrest that is retracted behind the seat until deployed. That eats into space available to open up fully to the trunk.

What the other's say.

The only opening is the sky bag.
Some fit the golf clubs in also.

You can fold the back rest down.
The fold down back rest is useful because it gives you a nice flat surface to put cargo in the back without ruining your leather seats.

But that's about it.
no way to fit a normal bike I am sure.

I have had my Tarmac in my back seats numerous times with the top down, dont even have to remove the wheels.
