This is not the result of a few pulls without the filter installed, this is long time use unfiltered. Thousands of miles worth of use most likely, I have never seen anything like it before. Let us just hope the engine is OK and passes a compression/leakdown test.

The SC kit should never be operated without an intake filter, if for some reason the intake assembly was on backorder when you received your kit or was shipping from another location then the kit should not be used until it is received. I strongly recommend that whoever worked on this car should not be let near it again. Let Corry repair it to spec and if any future servicing is required, please take it back to him.

HOLY COW!!! How did those fins and that huge amount of debris in the manifold go unnoticed!

Man I hope it all works out for the owner of the car and the motor is ok. Thats bad stuff for sure...

I did not say few pulls. I picked up the car from VAC since they are not to far from my work. When I got to my friends house, we saw that VAC did not reinstall the air filter hose and it was laying in back seat. Then we took the car to the dyno and then to Corry. So probably a few hundred miles in total. With bulk from the 3 hour trip up, I thought Alex (the owner) put the filter hose back on before going to CT.

As far as filter install goes, Roman told me to get the biggest cone filter so that we can get the car running. So I did just that and it ran great for a long time. It didnt run 1000s of miles without a filter lol

Needless to say the car is never going back to VAC.

I can only go by the info provided on how long the car was run without a filter but based on the photos it looks like more than a few hundred miles.

What about the possibility of a loose connection after the filter which would have sucked in unfiltered air?

In the meantime a leakdown and compression test can be done... I'm so curious to see if
The motor got lucky ..

inside of the coupler and manifold have oil in them from the PCV or maybe the charger themselves and it looks like the dust was sticking to them.

the car was not ran without a filter for more then 2 tanks of gas maximum. prior to the intake tube not being installed by VAC when they reassebled it the car always ran with the filter, it was removed to troubleshoot intake restrictions.

i have no reason to make anything up especially. whatever the original boost issue was it started while the car had a filter on it. filter was then taken off to see if there was an intake restriction and if the boost would go higher without. thats it.

compression test was just done at 170 and 3% leakdown across.

here is a pic of old filter that has been on the car the entire time and the new one going on.

Doh! ...did we inquire with VAC as to why the air filter hose was never reinstalled? Just saying....

i have two filters both vt2spec filters and i swap out dirty to clean i always make sure the filter is clamped on tight i even go as far as tip tie'ing the filter and hose to surrounding bracket support just to make sure it doesn't bounce around even though it sits pretty snugged...

Sorry to hear that you have been having some problems.

I wouldn't even move a ESS car around the shop with no filter installed.....

We installed a few kits in Greece step by step following the ESS instructions .Cars work perfect for more than one year and no issues at all. If everybody follows the instructions carefully should have no problem. It is so simple.
