small exhaust leak

installed a challenge sport x pipe couple weeks ago and sounds good but a little muddy like i have a leak or something vibrating under there and touching the heat shield. got the car up in the air today to look and formed the heat shield so not any touching parts just in case. i have a leak at the fitting between the resonators and the rear axle section. i can put my hand by it and feel it on both sides right where the clamp comes closed and there is a little gap. the stock axle back has a little crimp in it at these points maybe from overtightening from the factory. any idea how to seal this leak. just tried to use some high temp sealant in the area its leaking and am letting it set up. dont really want to weld these together but want it to sound correct.

Try pushing the muffler tips in to put some pressure making the fit tighter, as someone is pushing the rear muffler into the midsection tighten the clamps fully and recheck for leaks.

I've noticed that the clamps bend inward with use so they don't apply much pressure to the joint. Taking them off and bending the tabs where the bolt goes through will allow you to get it a bit tighter. Otherwise, some high temp silicone is probably your best bet.

You really need 2 people here are creative moves .

You need to push the pipes into the socket fittiing while tightening on the clamp to maintain a seal or they will always leak a little bit (not bad but noticeable).

If all else fails use exhaust/rtv silicone
