I'm lazy, file rename program??

So I'm terribly lazy and really don't feel like doing the mind numbing work of renaming all of my music files correctly that I have downloaded over the years.

Does anyone know of such a program that will rename the files correctly as well as fill in the meaningful iTunes parts like genre, CD title, track number, etc?

It's probably wishful thinking but hey maybe someone took the time to write such a program. I mean it's annoying have 20 songs from an artist and having the artists name spelled 3 different ways because people are morons.

Oh and I also need a good cd ripping program that will pull all the info needed for iTunes as well. Preferably free but I would pay a small fee.

Thanks!

Why don't you just use iTunes to rip the music? It will populate the information for you automatically. If the songs are from the same album, but the artist is misspelled for a couple of the tracks, iTunes will consider them to be separate albums. All you need to do is copy the correct spelling from a correct track and then paste that name for the incorrect tracks. After that, iTunes will clump the songs back into one album. Alternatively, ensure that the Album Artist field is identical for all tracks in an album, that will get iTunes to sort correctly.

You think that's bad... Me and my friend merged libraries over summer and now if I hit "Show Duplicates" I get 3251 songs, but I cant just delete em all because a lot are different versions of the same song...

So iTunes can rip CD's? I never knew that or even tried. I'll check that out later. I've populated iTunes with all my downloaded Music but it didn't care to correct or separate any of the misspelled artists or track names. Maybe I have an older version that doesn't do that?

Tell me about it. Dave Matthews alone is a killer. I have 10 or so different versions of 1 song over 20 different songs

MP3 Tag Studio although the page wasn't loading for me just now. There are other sites to download in the worst case.

"Mass clean up tags" and "batch rename" are great.

iTunes will tag the files it rips from CDs. I don't think it does anything with MP3 files other than show the file name.
