E46 M3 has a larger rear badge than E9X M3...
What gives?

It's all about design and making things fit. The E46 had a rounder, chunky body. So the bigger badge was a good fit and did not look oversized. The E92 has a sharper, more sleek body. So the badge had to be shrunk down a bit to coincide with the shape and lines of the vehicle.
This is kind of the same theory with the "CSL" trunk. That trunk was designed by BMW for the E46 because that design fit that body. The CSL trunk has no business on a E92. Does it look bad? Not really. Does it fit like it fit the E46? Absolutely not. The giant curve in the back of the E92 does not fit the straight, sharp lines of the E92 back end. Ericsson (Amuse) is the only company (I can think of) who didnt just slap on the same CSL design for the E92 and made an effort to make a trunk that fits the overall design of the car.

Do not think its for weight purposes.
The new Porsche GT3 4.0 Porsche emblem is a sticker now, no more metal badge. That's how serious weight is to them. BMW does not care so much. Wish they did though as they are putting more and more unnecessary worthless electronic gizmos in every year!

I have the CSL style trunk on my e92 and I love it.
As for the Amuse I really love the way it looks just not with the e46 badges...I think the amuse looks the best with nothing on it at all. Much cleaner.
