get a 90s viper. No roof, room for clubs, manual, v10, iconic.

But to be honest, with all of your requirements you basically described an m3. Most people would suggest that to you regardless if they are from the forums or not.

I think the steering feel is good on the audi as well, but the bmw feels smaller and more nimble, and more natural for me to drive fast.

that said, I think the audi tech is better and the interior is nicer. I don't think the m3 seats are anything to write home about either. both cars are excellent, just different. for me, I like a more raw and aggressive driving experience, so I am partial to the m3.

I also have owned a dct and mt m3, and IMO the dct is a much better fit for this engine and car. I wouldn't consider a 6mt m3 personally, the DCT is at least worth a drive. Id get a 6mt e46 over a 6mt e9x.
I can agree with your conclusions especially since you own a car and I just took it for about 2 hr test drive. To me the seats in M3 were more comfortable and adjustable bolster put them over the top. Also, like you said the car does pull as hard as M3, you just don't feel that sensation of acceleration. I really wanted to like RS5, in fact I already had my insurance adjusted plus loan ready to pull the trigger at the dealership. It was not to be.

However, based on my requirements and loose preferences, I am struggling to find any other car that would fit my needs better than either the upcoming M4 or M3

Requirements

1) Daily driver and only transport
2) Decent trunk for golf clubs, guitar stuff, etc.
3) 4 usable seats for friends, family, stuff, etc

Preferences

1) 6 mt but may not need to twist my arm too much given the beauty of the new DCTs
2) 400+ HP not super strict but given the weights these days, 400+ HP seems like a must
3) Good steering
4) RWD
5) Aesthetically pleasing interior with high technology
6) 2 doors, but I am increasingly appreciating the practicality of 4 seats
7) understated aggressive styling

Some cars that come to mind: GTR, Jaguar F coupe, C63, etc.

Thoughts?
Keep the M3.

There's no way I would spend $90k+ on a S6. The C63, especially the black series, is a helluva alot better car than the Audi for the money. The CTS-V is just plain ugly IMO. I haven't heard great things about the tranny as well. But, I am biased and love the M3. I don't think you can get a better car at this price point.

C63 black edition. Itll make up more than enough for the compromises on your list.
