Anyone work at PWC?

Hey I just finished my 1st round interviews with PWC, and it was the weirdest experience ever, does anyone have advice or that works at PWC that might know good/bad interview signs?

Basically, he just asked me 2 questions and we talked for about 30 minutes afterwards....interviews sure are changing these days..

Sounds fairly common to me. First test is the resume. Second test is the "Do we like him?" interview you described. Third test is the big interview with the decision makers.

I used to work in the Big 5s and interviewed both new and experienced candidates. This is clearly not a good sign. Of course, I could be wrong, but if I am the interviewer, I will be interested to know more about the candidate if I want to hire him/her.

On the other hand, if I feel the candidate is not a good fit, I will not waste his/her or my time.

Everyone's interviews were like this.
1) they already preselected resumes
2) Today was 1st round, behavioral, so they usually ask 2 questions about your qualifications and ask if you have any questions about the firm or the internship
Then we talked for the rest of the 45 minutes about the internship/experience and random stuff

I think if I hear back today its fine, but I know there's still 2nd round interviews so I hope I made it through... (which is the in-house 1 day whole day interview)

And I think at this point they know we have the technical knowledge and just want to make sure we fit the vibe/atmosphere of the firm, which makes sense... Sorry I'm just hella nervous now, I'm so used to the interviewers grilling you on everything that this was just an awesome interview experience in the sense they care more about who you are and what you want and how they can help rather than if you know debits/credits, bank recons, balances, accounts, journal entries, etc.

I'm excited and if i don't make it through I'll be sad, its my top choice and favorite firm =D

Question...

How many years of experience do you have?

It's a great firm with a great rep. Since it would be your first job, I think it's an excellent place to start. For somebody experienced however, I think it is a poor decision.

Best of luck to you.

I can't speak to PWC, but that's the style I use. You can prepare for most "typical" interview questions, but in a conversation, I feel I can get a better handle on what type of person you are. I can also dig in on your technical abilities during a conversation, or wait to see if I think you're worth a crap, and then dig in. If you're a new college grad, I don't expect you to know much, we'll teach you what we want you to know.

Yea, thanks guys, recruiter still hasn't called tonight and its totally distracting because if I know that I don't hear back within 2-3 days that I'm fcuked.

The interview lasted 45 minutes and it was just 1st round...

Also I know PWC super long term may not be the best career decision for people who have pretty solid experience, but from what I hear PWC is the best firm to work for as an undergrad, that and I already love the firm and hope that i"ll get to go to the training at Disneyworld!

Good Luck with PWC...they have insane hours!!! Good company to work for though! A girl I dated a year ago works about 12 hour days, 6 days a week and has probably gained about 30lbs since all they do is sit. She's an auditor so I guess that explains the long hours

It really depends on what kind of position you are applying or interviewing for...

Care to tell us?

My friend interned at PwC and had about the same type of interview (and got the internship obviously). She was an actuary and didn't work too long of hours. Not more than you would expect anyway.

Plus with the free taxi ride home and dinner on the company for working over 10 hours in day... can you really complain?

My interview with PWC lasted for about 1 hour. I was interviewed by 2 people at the same time. They told me they would call me within 3 days. Received a call the next day in the afternoon. Came in for another interview and got the job. Quit there after a year and a half. Hate working there.

lol, basically you go to these name brand factories to brand yourself so if you should leave, you're more ooh and ah by agencies and other companies. hardly anyone goes there to enjoy their time, but to put in their time for the corporate race. a lot of this is marketability and buying ourself recognition.

yea, sure, I'm applying to for summer assurance internship, its been a day so now I'm getting worried but no one's heard back and KPMG 1st round announcements are on Friday so I'm guessing they might be waiting, I'm not sure. Remember that their recruitment for interns is totally different than full time. I already know that its a great summer experience, but that eventually when you work, the hours are killer, so basically a fun summer to make sure you can handle busy season as an auditor. I can't wait personally, but for you guys who are already experienced, its probably not the field for you...

And for one thing, I keep hearing the firm is supportive and very flexible as long as you put in the hours and work your ass off and I sure as hell plan to work my ass off if I get in. ( I SUPER SUPER want to work for this firm, ever since freshmen year its been my target)

Have you tried Deloitte as well? Their internship program is supposed to be pretty good as far as hours go I know you have your heart set on PWC but you have to keep other options open as well. Man, I use to work at the Downtown LA firm and that was killer... well, the traffic was killer . Just wondering, which school are you coming from? UCLA?
