I believe the only people that compares the 2 are the ones that do NOT own an M. For the ones the owned both, I think we all agree that you can't even compare them, it's a different car on a different level. M rules.

This thread sucks. Why? Because I just test drove a new M3 today and it was freakin' sweet. Had an e36 M for 9 years and bought the 335 in 2006 when I couldn't wait any longer to get a e90/92 M. I think the 335 is amazing. But I guess I need to agree - the M is a whole different car. I knew it would be. The worst part - they've got exactly the combo i would have ordered sitting on the lot with 7 miles. Denial would save me a lot of money....

I came from a E90 335i. Excellent machine, but the M3 has heart & soul which the 335i never will have, even if you put 600BHP in it imho...
Rev it. |

The 335i is a nice quick autobahn mile muncher, nothing more.
I liked mine, a technical masterpiece in many ways, but ultimately I had to admit it is as dull as ditch water and get rid of it. I will buy a DCT E92 when they are at the level a 6-12 month old manual is, but for now I bought another E46 SMG M3, and even that is so, so, so much better than the 335i. Now my Dad prefers the 335i over the M3, but he's 65 and I think that says it all! |
