I don't really know the dynamic at play here, but not so sure if it's a great idea to have a wedding with no family members. A wedding is a union of families almost as much as it is a union of two people. Your/her family members are gonna be butt hurt when they find out that you organized a wedding without them. I can understand the difficulties in the different cultures, but that's never going away, and the wedding is probably not the right time to be avoiding it.

Is this a first wedding for her? If so it might be hard for her family to swallow not seeing their daughter get married and cost you mega points down the road in regret and hard feelings. My vote for neutral corner nondenominational ceremony in Omaha! Families will want to leave so fast they can't bug you.

Have one ceremony with both groups together, weddings in HK are typically the same as western ones. Then have two receptions, this way you can satisfy both groups and not have any angry family members. Eloping is probably the best way to cause problems in family ties.

Thanks for all the responses...

I think she's thinking getting married in NY now. But damn I don't know what we are gonna do. Thats gonna be so awkward. BTW, her immediate family is kind of distant with her and my immediate family is adoptive, which we didn't get along with for a very long time but is now getting better. Bottom line, meh.
