OC, just have it shipped to a dealer in your area. That's what I did. They put the port of delivery as Port Hueneme.

OC - you beat me to it. I called just after you. BTW they wanted $2K over invoice. Hope you didn't have to pay over MSRP. Congrats!

Is this the Courtesy Delivery you told me about before?

Are the selling dealers obligated to make the Courtesy delivery happen as long as I get a receiving dealer here to cooperate?

I did ask my CA who wasn't familiar with the procedure, so to simplify I told him for now; transport...

I am def interested to hear what you did to make that happen.

Did they offer that up to you? That seems really lenient.

Crazy... timing sure is everything. No, I didn't have to pay 2k over MSRP. My CA did mention someone offered 4k over from Northern California.

He said $2k over invoice not MSRP.
Does he know what invoice means?

oh shiat! Were they asking $2k over invoice? I don't think that's right.

edit: in fact I'm pretty damn sure invoice was not even a topic of discussion when I dealt with my CA. That's the holy grail, nobody gets near that this early in the game, do they?

Well, that's why I want to know who offered that up with the other guy.

OC, did you speak of price first or did he?

Yep, it's the courtesy delivery I mentioned. Dealers usually charge around $500 to do a CD. South Bay ended up not charging anything for the CD because Newbold transferred the sale of the car over to South Bay, so for me it worked out perfectly. First M3 in SoCal at MSRP from a Socal dealership.

What happens is this: dealer you're buying through contacts the dealer you want the car delivered to. The buying dealer then sends the delivering dealer a sheet they have to sign off on that authorizes the car being delivered to them. That form is then sent to BMW Distribution, who then go into the order system and change the delivery local to the delivery dealership. The buying dealership is merely a conduit that places the order in the system.

They're obligated to make the CD happen if they don't want you to walk out on them. You can simply tell them to do a CD or you go elsewhere. Talk to the manager of the dealership ALWAYS, as he should know the CD process.

The CA did... He mentioned the baseline at MSRP, then went into the story about other members here vying for the allocation...someone offered 4k over msrp, etc...

They worked out a deal with South Bay, meaning both parties made out fine. I'm unaware of the finer details.

Sorry I mistyped. He said someone had taken the allocation with $2K over MSRP. Seems a bit shady if he had made the deal with you at MRSP to tell me that he had someone at 2K over MSRP.
