Just tape up a few signs that say "YOU ARE BEING RECORDED". That should fix that.

BTW, u might go in and tell the service manager that you are demanding them make this right...at least for the swirls and scratches since you ask for it not to be washed....years ago, i took the black E46 in for service and they washed the car when i requested it not to be washed..i also posted signs everywhere that time.....well, its black, so u know what happened...it came out with 100% swirls everywhere...before i left i spoke to the manager, gave him an earful, and he agreed to pay for detailing at the detail shop of my choice...ended up costing them 350 bucks for professional polishing...go back and demand this..they need to learn how to FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS..

BMW service blows they are the absolute worst I have ever dealt with. I don't get it either I mean this is BMW they should provide the best service in the industry. Between them being so dumb and clueless about their own products or not providing BMW loaners or not being able to make appointments for the afternoon or evening for the car to be worked on the next morning.

So to prevent the swirls I have been going in a straight up and down motion when washing.... is that correct?

I did the same on my Blue 535 at the time. I took it to my detailer and they paid for it.

Such BS

I pretty much the exact same thing happen when I got mine done. Scratches everywhere, free paint marring wash, and the joy ride that I caught the Tech speeding back into the lot. Not to mention he also drove through a construction area and had my whole front end, wheel wells and wheels covered in cement.

6 miles is nothing.....

sometimes i have them drive it 20 miles if they need to.

and they're not liable for damaging a lip

if it was a BMW Perf splitter, then yet. but the lip is low thus they're not liable for it. at least that's what I've heard

the wash i'd be pissed about but i also specify no wash and they don't do it

I told them not to wash my car but somehow they still washed it, and what made it worst is they made swirl mark all over my car (Alpine white) and there were many black oily dots showing on the rear bumper, trunk and fender area..... I don't get how those black oil dots got all over my car after the car wash....

They also drove the car for 6 miles, I guess most dealer do it after oil change? I'll let this one slide.

Here are the two worst thing happened today:

1). They made fat scratch marks on my hood, I notice it after i got home but it was too late to bring it back. So i used clay bar and tried to take out much scratch as possible, and it works ok. you still can see few tiny brown scratch...

2). I got my arkym lip installed two weeks ago and i covered it with clear bra. I been driving super careful for the past few weeks, there are no damage to the lip or the clear bar. But when i picked up my car today, i saw pieces of clear bra hanging loose on the bottom of the lip. It was obvious they scraped the car pretty bad, and i told them to either fix it or replace it. But they told me it's not their fault because the lip was too low and they are making up whole bunch bull shit excuses....

So i am not happy with my first 1200 mile service.... What you guys think i should do? bring it back and argue more or just eat it and try to fix it myself???

Also can i push the car harder after the 1200 miles service? Can i give it full throttle and push it to red line? The service guy told me i can do whatever i want now after the first service, but i don't really trust him. Opinions?!?!
You can get them for the scratches on the paint.

If your non-OEM front lip is low, they can try to be careful but are not obligated in any way to repair it as it does make the car harder to drive in terms of clearances.

What you "can" and "can't" do is all written in the manual. I put these words in quotes, because I have been unable to find any engineering based, or sceintific reason for these arbitrary rpm and throttle limitations.

OH and for the 6 mile drive. I believe they have to take at least a 8 miles test drive after oil change or scheduled service due.

Sucks they didn't take care of you. I was putting go pro's in my car and leaving it on record at the dealership to document everything that happened. Yea, it's a bit anal but if they ever say "we didn't do it" you just say, well here is the video and it cut's through the BS.

BMW of Encinitas has always taken care of me BUT their washes are awful. I've seen them using pressure washers on cars, it's no wonder they're all covered in swirls and scratches.

Most dealerships have a drive thru car wash system and the ones that don't, have sticks with a soft broom type brush attached to the end... the car wash guys only care about getting the car in and out... real pain man

BMW Encinitas is a joke. Go with BMW Vista. It's worth the extra 20 minute drive north.

Hey jaker (and everyone else who has any thoughts on some dealerships ), if you have a moment, please fill out a short review for the dealership in this thread. I'm hoping that this review thread will grow so people will know which dealers to go to and which ones to avoid, and your (everyone's) input would be invaluable.

My dealer has changed the oil twice on my car and both times they never put even a tenth of a mile on my car.

No good to use pressure washer?

I just bought a Karcher with soap box at bottom (so you can use it with or without soap)

thats funny i just had my break in service done and i SPECIFICALLY said, do not wash it. Sure enough they did.

Surprisingly they cleaned it VERY nicely no swirls or any sort of damage or dirt or oil spots. They only put a mile or two on it as well so no complaints.

PAUL MILLER BMW, in Wayne NJ so far very professional.
