Mar22 in Canada. Mine is still at CN in Concorde. Maybe we will get pricing at the Toronto show. Still hoping that the car may make it to the dealer this week.

test drive is good but not critical......

Even if I do not test drive one, I am ok based on Car&Driver, Edmunds and others...their reviews are right on based on previous bmws I have owned..i also look for comments such as cruiser and smooth on highway (vs say a C63) - which makes for a good daily driver. I know the M3 will be a blast vs my 330i...

Only concern is steering (got mixed reviews) and of course the DCT is as yet untested.....so not sure how good it really is...but again once DCT is reviewed, I am good...frankly other than Camyan S I dont see any other competition...

I keep calling him twice or thrice a week and he says he didnt get anything yet. Where is your dealer located? When did he say he got his first allocation?

Does anyone know the time gap the dealers usually have between the 1st and 2nd allocations?

In theory, a small dealer should be getting 1-2 cars a month, and a very large one maybe 5-6. However, it is not clear that US production has really ramped up or not at this transitional stage...

The reason I asked is my dealer just got one allocation. As I am 2nd on the list can I expect my time to come up before the end of feb? My dealer is small by the way.

That would be a reasonable expection I think in terms of putting in a real order with an allocation. You can also ask your dealer how it went with at the E46 M3 release--assuming your sales guy has been around that long. The numbers should be similar I think. Production target for the E92 are higher, but by only about 21% (82383 for the E46 excluding CSL vs. 100000 planned for the E92).

Im wondering because if the m3 is out for showing I will definitely head out to the Philly auto show, but there is nothing on their website about the m3... They just claim the x6 and 1series are going to be there...

The X6 and the 1 Series are the feature vehicles for BMW right now, so that's what they will promote in advance PR. Doesn't mean there won't be an M3, though there wasn't at Portland (we never get the good stuff, though).

To give this topic an update, I called BMWNA again today and asked them to clarify the words "March 08", and they said it was DEFINITELY March 8th, not March 2008. I had the woman spell it out real simple for me and we are on for the 8th of March.

You have no idea. BTW, how's your car coming along? Do I need to call Neil and give him a verbal beating?

You should look into one of the threads I've seen here recently about people giving their allocations away. I think you've seen one of those already though.
