Insurance for professionaly fitted mods!
I know this seems to be an age old question with many uncertainties however, I\'m interested if anyone has experience with divulging all professionally installed mods on their car to their insurance company.
For example: performance Dinan mods installed by BMW, or in my case a badged car modified by RDSport (RS46 - 2008 M3 e9x chassis)? Link to my car: http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/rd-sport-rs46-ar82732.html How can these mods be presented to an insurance company? If your a broker or work for an insurance company feel free to chime in! |

State Farm has ALWAYS covered my mods when any claims occurred.

What kinda mod we talking about? Aftermarket Reflectors or interior trim?
I am talking about S/C Kit - $15k Brake - $7k Exhaust - $7K If you total your car do you expect the insurance to pay for these? I believe it must be reported, and your rates will rise as well... |

No insurance company will touch your car in the GTA if it's modified.
In fact if they find out, they will drop you like a hot potato. If your car is 15 years or older you can go with Lant/Silver Wheels but that won't help much here.

Just reviving an old thread
I'm in search of an E46 M3 to use for the track and Targa. For those of you who've put roll bars in your cars and I assume your insurance company knows nothing of the mod? Like stated above no insurance company IN the GTA will insure my car if it's modded with roll bars. Perhaps I'll have to go with a bolt in kit that I can remove after each event thus giving the car a visual illution that it's still stock.

I am insured with Dominion in GTA. Mods include Dinan software, Dinan suspension, Vorsteiner front bumper, BBS 20 inch wheels, Active exhaust and a few minor cosmetic things. All mods disclosed. They required me to have an inspection. Everything is covered at no additional cost, but the insurance was not cheap to start with...

I was told that all exterior mods are covered. Engine based is a completely different story.

interesting. what if you got an oem roll cage? like the one in the GTS. in my case, i just got a 2008 gt3rs and i have an oem half cage (only in the back) in the car. wonder if that would pose an issue with ontario insurance companies.
