Yeah, heard that one a few times about the cam. Outside of the lifters also got the idle sounds rough comments with several cammed cars over the years.

Believe it or not, even M3 owners don't all know their cars are rear wheel drive. I've (tactfully) informed two such owners.

When I was shopping for my M3, I visited a dealership while on a business trip and inquired about any M3's they had in stock. He replied, "we have one manual and one automatic." "Really", I said. "You sure they put an automatic in an M3?" "Yes", he said, "they call it DCT, it's like two automatics side by side."

I did end up going on a test drive during which at one point during a downshift, he asked "why does it rev like that, the other automatics don't?". I couldn't take it any longer and gave him a lesson on the M3 that he should have gotten from his management. As I left he was thanking ME for the info...

Not ignorance so much as arrogance. The reason people think M3 drivers are douches. He could be a little kid who got it from mom and dad, but its possible he's just some douche financing something he can't afford as well.

Seems to be the ones with the biggest chips on their shoulder throw the most rocks. Just my opinion though.

Yeah, like in anything else its often not so much what is said, its how it is said. A young kid that was stoked over a car and asked politely what I did for a living would be fine by me, in fact I would be favorably inclined to answer in a positive manner.

Lmfao at these stories.

I was leaving a parking lot one time when this guy who had his arms around 2 very ugly girls yelled "sick body kit bro" ...My car was completely stock at that time.

I told him it has no body kit. He just looked away. lmao.

Also, some idiot is talking to me about my car and says the reason he didnt buy an M3 is because it doesnt come in manual. ya..thats the reason.

i'd love to build the motor to handle and have peak power at 9000 RPM. Probably too high for a street motor if (*when) it sacrifices low end, but S2K's are soooo much fun to rev. Then again, the S65 is even more fun

Back before I got the car and I would go to test drive m3s for the fun of it, a salesman told me on the test drive, "yeah, so this m3 is the special edition twin turbo model that BMW only made 800 of." I tried explaining it was a v8 and he refused to believe me, so I left right after I got out of the car.

So just the other day I got my performance wing at my local BMW dealership. Initially I was going to ask the dealerships body shop to put it on. When the lady came out to see the car she says to me wow I can't believe the new body shape already has an m model. I looked her said this is an e92 m3 she proceeds say yeah I know this body shape came out a year ago. So I just walked away and winded up installing the wing myself. FYI this all happened at the dealership

when I used to own my 'ol E36 M3, I had slotted rotors. Some guy approached me and said: hey, what's wrong with your brakes? Are they broken?
He had that serious look on his face.

I think the M3 had already been out for a year at the time, but two idiots at a stoplight said "IS THAT A REAL M3?! They don't make sedans, lol"
And when I tried explaining to them that they used to in the 90s and just started to again, they didn't seem convinced, and thought I just faux-badged mine to look like an M3.

I agree 100%. Although when I need a "topless" fix, or just like to see how close I can get to a catastrophic snap over-steer, there's nothing like the fun of an S2000. It's a far more "pure" driving experience.
