Big 75000 mile service. DCT fluid change
I took my car in for new brakes and instead found a small leak under the intake manifold and a bad fuel pump. The fuel pump threw a code. The manifold leak didn't. The brakes don't need replacing yet, wear sensors are wrong. I'm also having my DCT fluid changed. I can't trust that it's life time. I'll post pictures of the fluid that comes out tomorrow. Before you say you can't change it, I've got a independent shop here who is the southeast authorized Dinan Dealer and they are doing for me. I'm told the tab is $1790 for fuel pump, oil change, DCT fluid change, Diff fluid change and the leak at the manifold. The manifold leak is coming from a sensor and not any major gasket. The oil is collecting in the V so I never saw it on my garage floor. I'll update with full service codes and prices tomorrow.

I do not know the exact name or viscosity or anything else about it to be honest. I just know that no fluid last forever and it seems like a good idea to change all my fluids, except coolant. Get that at the fall service.

I have a question. When it comes time to changing the brakes, how much more would it cost to get a set of brembos as opposed to M3 brakes? I am also interested on how the DCT fluid change goes.

Someone posted about Brembo brakes. This shop won't install anything but factory parts. As far as getting the fluid, this shop has a direct factory connection. |

$174... per quart/liter? How many quarts/liters does the DCT take?
If it is a Dinan shop, I would trust them and I wouldn't be surprised that they can obtain DCT fluid.

http://www.xn--motor-l-gnstig-0pb3h....mart&Itemid=65 10L: € 172.99 (Price per liter: 17,30 €) + 5,90 € shipping If its $174 for the job including the oil then thats pretty decent. Last edited by SenorFunkyPants; 06-08-2011 at 11:42 AM.. |

Could you send the DCT fluid off to Blackstone for analysis?
That would be HUGE for all the owners. .

The DCT fluid has been changed. I didn't get a picture because the shop dropped the small cup they saved. The fluid was a dark amber. The color of 5000 mile engine oil. The amount of new fluid for my car was three quarts. Why three? It's very difficult if not impossible to completely empty the DCT. They were able to remove three so thats what they put back. The fluid is made by Castor oil and is 20.62 per quart
(part # 82140413341) The DCT is noticeably quieter on coasting to a stop. Otherwise I feel no difference. total $114. The leak in the V was a solenoid valve. $239 + labor Fuel pump $457 + labor. There's a thread on warranties, I've posted where I just bought a extended warranty. The DCT fluid can be changed and I'm sorry to not get sample. I will do this again in the fall and try to procure a sample that I will be happy to send to one of you if you want to test it. Best of luck all and if my tranny falls out tomorrow I'll never be on this site again. The shame would be too great. The shop is Performing Imports in Atlanta, Ron the owner was great, Andy the shop foreman and James the mechanic did super jobs. There was a new M# sitting at the door as I pulled away. The # is 770-641-6202 |

I posted about my independent shop changing my DCT fluid here. I got closer to 4 quarts out of my system. If you are super paranoid you can run it for a couple thousand miles and get another 4 quarts out swapped for new.
