Floor mats
I wish my car had the little thingy that holds the carpet mats in place, I am careful and they slowly work upwards. My Honda had a little thing that held the mat in place, do we have one and I'm missing it?

Read this post:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9417 Your mats should have two velcro like pads on the underside. You are probably missing the plastic pieces that screw (yes, screw) into the carpet. Read through the above thread and you will see my posts. Hope this helps! |

Thanks, I hate not having the thing my other car had, the mats would not move at all! I guess i'll just live with sliding my mats back every few days....thanks for the info!

The plastic discs that screw into the carpet work well and do not leave any marks when removed. I never have to adjust my mats anymore and the Dealership gave them to me for free!

That is weird. I also got those "keep it place thingies" talk to your dealer and demand it.

Once I pulled to hard to get the mat to let go from the velcro and believe it or not that screw thingy that goes into the floorwell just came off/out.
Nothing serious I just screwed it back in.

Hmmm interesting. I haven't had to re-adjust my carpeted mats yet, since I have the plastic ones on top for the rains. I'll need to check it, since the dealer put them in the car for me before delivery.

The discs do indeed come with the mats: Velcro discs for the carpeted mats and discs with a plastic hook come with the heavy rubber mats.
If you bought your mats on your own and didn't get the discs then you accidently threw them away. If your CA gave you mats or installed them for you but didn't use the anchors then he/she did a sloppy job and owes you a new set of discs. As has been mentioned the Japanese system is superior. They use a metal tab permanently anchored into the floor that snaps straight so you can put the mat on then pivots down flat to hold the mat in place. |

You are right, my past Hondas had a bent metal piece that held my mats down PERFECT. BUT BMW do not do that, I guess because the 3 series mats are optional, which I think is retarded, I also told BMWNA that.

My driver's side mat is anchored down properly near the seat, but up at the foot end, it's not and it keeps getting snagged by the clutch and pulled backwards.. is there supposed to be one of these disc thingies up at that end of it too? Somehow I gots to fix this, it's annoying as hell and probably dangerous.

If you are talking about the standard carpet mats, you need to either move it flush against the base of the gas pedal, which will allow the back of the clutch pedal to hit the top of the mat, or move the mat flush against the seat brackets, where the clutch will now stop against the carpet. If the mat is in the middle, the clutch will tend to grab the top of the mat. I had the same problem, until I installed the two velcro discs and adjusted the mat forward against the gas pedal.
