WOW PNW ~ that is awesome!

Do you need to get city permits for something like that? I love how shiny your floor is - talk about a gloss finish

May I ask what kind of ballpark number that would cost to do? I would love to do that (pending if I had enough land one day) to actually build something like that - do you use the roof as a picnic area? I was just thinking how cool it would be to have a fireman style pole so you can slide into the garage level and take off in your m3 in record time!

We overlook the north inlet to Lake Union and also have views of downtown Seattle.

Seattle is awesome, I grew up in PA and moved here 10 years ago, I love it!

Yeah, we had to get a bunch of permits to attach a new garage to the house. There's a 25'x25' deck on top of the garage that then connects to a 25'x15' deck off the back of the house. It's nice but was costly. We have a new baby so we'll be here plenty long to make it worth it. Otherwise I'd have just gone with an LP-560 and saved some money.

Nice collection of cars BTW, I love the GTS! Wife wouldn't go for it though and hence a RR. GTS is so much better!

Can someone enlighten me on how RaceDeck floors handle pooled water when one brings in a car from heavy rain or snow? I understand the water would go under the floor, but is there some sort of drainage channel or system? Seems to me that the water would take forever to evaporate under there unless it was blown out with a leaf blower or a master blaster.

On my regular concrete floor, I can sweep or shovel the water out (after alot of melted snow or slush), but I wonder how one handles this on RaceDeck or even Epoxy.

Thanks.

PNWM3, I really like your garage addition! You wouldn't happen to have some info (Manufacturer and model) on those wood garage doors would you? I am thinking of changing out my garage doors and I really like yours. Thanks!

We got them from Amarr through Costco: http://www.garagedoor.com/costco/

They have some standard wood designs but they will build anything you want. We provided them sketches from our architect and then they built them exactly how we wanted them. They are mahogany with seeded glass. Doors, hardware, installation, essentially everything ran about $6k per door. It's probably about 25% to 30% less if you go with a standard design.

I finally closed on my house with the 4 car garage 4 days ago. Both M3s are finally inside again after 1 year of being garageless. It will be a few weeks/months before the garage is the way I want it, but in the time being it's nice having the cars inside where they belong (when not being driven). Pics will follow in a few weeks when the boxes get unpacked.

No issues. You can sweep most of the muck out. The tiles are open underneath so the little water that seeps between the tiles will drain down if your garage is mildly sloped like most are. The tiles snap pretty tightly, however, so the water getting underneath is minimal.

Good looking garages.

I think I want to epoxy my floor rather then doing Racedeck. Racedeck looks cool but I actually wrench on my vehicles and I get oil on the ground frequently. Seems like there is potential for oil to get through the cracks and wedges of the Racedeck tiles. I do not want oil standing under the Racedeck for years and years. yuck.

Some of these really make me jealous. Hopefully I will have my garage up to the level as some of these.

I work on my cars myself also, although less than I used to. I'm certain a small amount of oil has gotten through the race deck, but honestly, so what? Other option is to just use a small rubber mat under the car when you work.

If you are going to do epoxy and really want it to hold up, you really have to properly clean and prep the concrete, and use a proper two part epoxy. I used an inferior epoxy product before the race deck, and it didn't hold up too well to tire heat and winter salt. The heat/salt combo is particularly bad. Then, you can't just repatch that one area, as it really won't up at all. Once the epoxy coating is compromised in one area, it really starts to fall apart.

So looking at their website it would be the "diamond" style? Also, no problems with floor jack and jack stands?
