Wheels - VMR versus Sports Edition
I need to buy winter wheels and tires for brand new M3 and X6 coming in 1 month. Had planned to go with Sports Edition A7 for M3 and KV5 for the X6, but don't really love either. I was referred to VMR wheels. Need to learn which wheels fit each car and equally important how well they are made.

Lol, gotta give people some time to respond
VMRs are a solid choice. They are real popular with the E9X crowd as they are good looking, well built and affordable. They would make an excellent winter setup for both looks and quality. We just did a set of 18" staggered V710s with blizzacks for a customer in Buffalo, probably one of the best looking winter setups I have seen. |

I used the sport edition A7s they seem like a good solid wheel. I used them last winter and they were fine no issues. I see them fairly often on other BMWs around MA during the winter. They look fine on the car the rears look a little tucked in since I went with a non-staggered set up.

I've had 2 sets of VMR CSL wheels and they are pretty solid. I did bend a wheel after running over a brick at 80mph.
My only complaint is that the finish is not 100% perfect, I'd rate it at about 95%. You'll find some stuff in the paint if you look very closely. Not that it matters but there were paint drips on the inside of the barrel. Again, can't really tell unless you look really closely.

I had sport editions on my M5 and while performance wise I had no issues, they weren't the best looking wheel out there. Considering that winter lasts about half the year here in chicago, I want something that I will really enjoy looking at so I am planning on the VMR 710s for my winter set up this year on the M3.

I had the sport editions on my 335i coupe for my winter setup. They worked but hated the way they looked. For my M3, I went with the VMR 18' VB3 (CSL) and couldn't be happier with the fit and looks. For aesthetics alone I would go with the VMR.
FYI - just got the wheels/tires on my car. Take a look: Setup: Wheels (from EAS): VMR VB3 (CSL) gunmetal front: 18x8.5 rear: 18x9.5 Tires (from Tirerack): front: 235/40R-18 Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D back: 255/40R-18 Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D Keeping the staggered look. Skipping the TMPS, i'll see how bad the tire warning light will bother me this winter.
