DIC dimming at random -- coding mistake?
Had my E90 coded this past weekend with a few simple things: instant MPG display, Euro MDM, wiper auto-park, AC off when car starts, weather band radio, and no iDrive warning. The day before, I had the dealer upgrade me to the latest integration (e89x-13-03-504).
I am now noticing that the DIC (the display between the gauges) is visibly dimming for a few seconds and then returning to normal brightness whenever I transition between bright and dark, such as pulling into a parking garage. The display brightness is already at maximum and I see nothing as far as "auto dim". This happens if the headlamps are on, off, or in auto mode. Is this somehow the result of a coding mistake or is the connection to that display flaking out? Or is this normal behavior I've not noticed before?

With the rash of cloudy/rainy weather we've had this past week, I'm seeing the dimming almost daily. Most of my drive to work today had a dimmed display -- it was overcast but the dimming was there if the headlamps were on or off.
Is this a result of a coding error, or is the display supposed to adjust brightness based on ambient light conditions?

Maybe you are experiencing your headlights turning on and off. Do you have your headlights set up to automatic? Try turning the headlights to off and see if the display dim at all. Just a suggestion.

As I said above, the problem happens whether they're off, on, or set to auto. Is the display supposed to dim when the headlamps are on?

It does not dim that much, but you can tell a difference. But if it happens when they are either on or off, then nevermind what I said. I wish I knew what it could be.
