Lost my License!

Well my trial date finally arrived and i was convicted of exceeding 100 mph while in the car pool lane solo. After having to pay over a grand just for the ticket i got an additonal bonus from the DMV wherein they have now suspended my license for 6 months. : ( So now my baby is gonna be sittin still for quiite sometime. Is it bad to just let my car sit, or should i start it up and let it idle like once a month? Should i change the oil right now before it begins to sit? Any suggestions are welcome. (besides telling me to slow down ) LOL. Thanks.

Ouch! Hang in there. Six months always seems forever in the beginning. It'll give you time to reflect on lessons learned and how not to get caught next time. Easy answer, just do the right thing.

Look at the good side....you'll save money on gas....and use that to pay the extra premiums on your insurance. Double ouch!

Are you under 18? Is that why you got suspended for 6 mos?

Im 20 and i already had 2 points on my license, this going over 100 is 2 points and the carpool ticket is 1, so that brought me up to 5 points total. That is why it was suspended. Im reading the suspension letter and it says if they catch me driving they'll arrest me, fine me, and SELL my car!! WTF! they can do that. Dam looks like i better have someone hide my keys.

Not knowing the road or traffic condition regarding your ticket, our cars so effortlessly get to 100 mph and have such great handling, especially on freeways, I sympathize with your predicament. Did you have a defensible case, or were you hoping the cop wouldn't show up and that you'd get it dismissed.

As for giving your car a six month recess, I'd call your service department and ask them what they recommend. Since you live in Southern California and don't have to worry about extreme cold, maybe just start the engine once a month and let it run a bit, or sit in the passenger seat and have a friend drive it around the block. I don't know about the oil.
Also, I wonder if you can modify your insurance to cover theft only and get back some unused premium, especially if your car will be cocooned in a garage.

Sorry dude... On a bright side though... I used to be haggled by police all the time. I have received over 12 speeding tickets, most of which I fought for and won. A month ago a close friend of mine hit a pedestrian while driving. Long story short I am glad that there were people out there constantly reminding me to slow down even if it ended up costimg me. I have since been a different driver. So my point is take this as a good lesson. Don't let yourself get angry over this and go back and prove yourself , at the end you're the one that is going to pay the price.

Now to the point about the car. Get fresh oil in, add Sta-bil (fuel stabilizer) and put the battery on a maintainer.

You can petition to have driving rights to/from work/school. Give it a shot, worth a try.

that terrible to have lost your driver license. I wonder how many points I have on my license record. Anyway for me to check?

Well they might suspended your driver license but they cannot stop you from modding. This is perfect time to work on mods and to get to know your car intimately (inside as well as outside). Also, I am sure you can pull the car out to the drive way and start that zaino process you been wanting to do.

I'd stick to cosmetic mods. The last thing he needs is more power.

Sorry to hear, It is a shame. On the bright side, think of your car's resale value going up as it'll have a lot less miles on it come trade in time. As for oil change, I think running the engine in the driveway once or twice a month should be fine.

I'm also 20 and I have some habits that I need to get rid off. Now, I do keep my eyes out for cops as much as I can.
It's funny that I drive fast for the most part and haven't received one speeding ticket. *knocks on wood. Now, I did have 2 points one for a illegal u-turn and the other for making a right turn on a red light. I went to traffic school for one and now waiting a couple of months so I can fix my other one. There was this one time that I was hitting 140 mph on the car pool lane and when I was getting on my exit a car pooled up and told me to slow down, later I found it that it was an undercover cop.

I've been lucky for about my 3 years of driving. Now, that I'm planning to take it easy from now on. It's kinda hard having a 380rwhp and not being able to drive fast. Hopefully, if everything goes well fiancially hopefully I can pick up a 335i coupe auto (since it has the same tranny as the m6) once I place an order next week and hopefully in 2 months I'll be able to roll in a 335i

This post invoked a flashback for me. At about 10K miles on my 01 S54 M-roadster (freshly Dinan ECU top-speed delimited), I took my car East to a glassy, long, virtually unpatrolled streatch of I90 in western Montana and wound it out. I was too petrified by the speed and roar (even w the top up) to even note the exact top end (in the 160+ range). Stupid, but memorable to say the least. Never, ever again, but wow. Anyway, I pulled into Missoula 50 miles or so down the road and my TPMS light went on.... I had a f&**ing nail in my right rear tire and a slow leak. The nail probably found my tire in Missoula, or I'd have died quickly at 26 with a really embarassing obituary and no 335i. A 6-month suspension is hard, I'm certain, but remember this little story and it will be a little less painfull I hope.

What happened to taking responsibility for your actions?

That is taking responsibility...the responsible thing to do would be to hire someone more qualified to deal with one's own situation I wouldn't attempt to fix a wiring problem in my house, I leave that to an electrician, same concept for traffic court
