Wife limited my modding budget, help me make a choice...

My wife saw the credit card bill after I picked up a new set of GTS rims and told me to knock off the pre-car-arrival-modding for a few months or else she would match my spending on shoes and purses. All of us know that almost every item we buy for our cars has around a 70% used market value so I never really count the cash as completely gone but try explaining that to your wife/GF.

Anyway, I am selling a COBB AP for around $675 and can keep the paypal account under the radar so I have to make a choice on what to grab. Here's my options.

1. BMW Performance Steering Wheel with blue stripe (close match to santorini)
2. Replica CF BMW Performance Front Splitters and Rear Performance Spoiler
3. Custom dash CF Leather trim with santorini blue stitching.

What do you guys think?
Thanks,
-Curt

Obviously you NEED all 3 but considering you haven't even got the car yet, I'd personally go with #3 (most unique)...next would go with just the rear performance spoiler from IND with the CRT style color matched stripe. Would wait on the splitters in case you decide on getting a front lip though. Of course you need the steering wheel too...maybe put it on a payment plan so won't be so obvious on just one cc statement.

Do not buy the reps... Maybe the splitters, but not the spoiler. Fitment is lousy...

You may want to consider ditching the wife.

Coin toss, all options look nice. What do you think you can install w/o the wife noticing? That would be my choice in your shoes.

ive seen a couple of that replica splitters here, and the fitment is pretty lousy.
this splitter does not get damaged like other lips since it doesn't lower, and the same goes for the spoiler that it won't get damaged, so imo it's worth it to get oem.
but do the spoiler first, it will still look good with the spoiler and no splitter, but splitter without anything in the back makes the front look too much

Majority of the time, only you would see the interior mod. That said I would go with #2.

Ok so based on these comments I'm finding out the replica cf parts are a no-go.

I'm partially glad my wife regulates the modding so I space it out and appreciate each individual mod more.

The more I think about it the more the steering wheel becomes my top choice. The custom trim would be ballin but I have exhaust and supercharger to save up for before I get into the discrete details

None....listen to your wife...
I am a recovering modaholic...I know...listen to her before you go broke on mods.
On top of that those things dont add a lick of performance...

Get the splitters and spoiler from Mckenna BMW in California. They are on the forum and their prices for OEM gear is great. I got both and the mirror caps from them and it was a great deal... Ive seen the fitment of some of the reps and they look like crap. Never mind the weave pattern of the CF is all over the place... You get what you pay for.

Here is a link to one of their sales posts CLICK THIS SHIT RIGHT HERE

And surprise your woman with some bags and stuff. Thatll throw her off your case for a while.

GT motoring produces the interior trim with custom stitching.

I have 08 M3.
I haven't mod my car.
Now, I am thinking about a new car.
I can use the extra cash to get a few options for my new Porsche.

Option 2, definitely. Makes a giant difference, the car looks so much better.

I'd recommend going rep with the front splitters. They get beat up all the time, so I can't justify dropping that much money on it. The JBSpeed one is pretty good.

However, going OEM rear spoiler is a good idea as that's a piece that's much more visible (and you have to live with all the time). McKenna, a forum sponsor has it for not THAT much more than what reps are going for.

I bought my wife a coach purse and a nice watch to keep her distracted. She's happy with my modding as long as she gets her "mods" too!
