ZCPs from silver to black

Has anyone painted their ZCPs from silver to black? I'm considering going that route but don't know exactly the color code for black ZCPs

I would powder coat and not wet paint.

Just tell them you want satin or 20% satin if they pressure for more info. Powder coat them too.

Just curious. Wouldn't the extreme amount of heat involved in powder coating compromise the strength of the wheels?

Powder coating does not require EXTREME heat to adhere. Some of today's PC paint requires even less heat to adhere. Just find a place that knows what they are doing with wheels.

Thanks! Would you be able to recommend a good shop to coat wheels in OC?

Nu-Tec Powder Coating

I believe he is referring to the fact that ZCP wheels are cast and not forged. The alloy in the cast is heat treated to increase the strength. Baking them at 400 for an extended time can take them back to the temperature where the cast metal was treated causing the alloy to restructure and not be as strong.

Your correct extreme heat is not used but then again extreme heat is not needed to cause damage. Many try a low temp bake around 300-350 F to get around this issue for cast wheels being powder coated.

If I go to the place and tell them I want to power coat the wheels, will they know what I'm taking about or should I tell them I want to powder coat in black?

Someone will explain the actual powder coat process.

You will need to go to someone who actually PC's. It's a completely different process then paint. You will also have to tell them exactly what you want. Color and sheen. You can basically PC any color you could imagine these days.

Yeah no clue on that. If you want them just redone in the exact color, they will know when you take them in.
