Nav DVD upgrade?

Anybody upgrade the nav dvd recently? Is it worth it and how much did it cost? Thanks.

if you have the old idrive system that takes a Nav DVD, you're looking at $200 or so.

I bought an updated one. It was worth it to me since a lot of roads changed with all the construction in our area, and the addition of new roads as well.

so it depends. If there isn't a lot of change in your area, then probably not worth it.

For the old CCC iDrive like I have you can torrent the DVD or burn a copy. Same for the new CIC one but I think it requires some sort of VIN specific code to unlock. Those can also be had for cheap. I'm not sure where but people have posted sources.

Most dealers give BMWCCA a discount of 15% to 25% on items like this

If you're talking about the CCC version there are a few torrents out there.

New 2011 BMW - North America DVD - 'PROFESSIONAL' by Tele Atlas (BMW p/n 65 90 2 199 843)
Compatible with all in-dash loading (CCC) iDrive BMW Navigation Systems.

Includes:
- Red Light and Speed Cameras and
- Police Speed Traps

  • Click here and download the torrent file*
  • Click here and download MagicISO, you'll need it later
  • Head to a local (computer?) shop, purchase some Verbatim DVD+R disks
  • Using MagicISO, burn the ISO file onto a disk
  • Eject the old (factory) navigation DVD from within your vehicle
  • Insert the new (burned) copy
  • Let it load up, enjoy

I just did it, the only thing i'm noticing different is that i can hear my dvd scanning the iso that's burned onto the disc often. maybe i'll burn it at a slower rate maybe..dunno..*shrugs*
