a light 6 cylinder will do better than a heavy v8. the 6 cylinder engine in the old skyline was capable of 700+hp after some tuning work...power will not be a problem.

997 is a Totally different car. The car has proven itself. It's sets a benchmark for the competitors. What Nissan is doing with the VR motors is yet to be seen. Keep in mind this new motor is a redesigned engine based of the Le man car. It will also be using the new "Integrated Exhaust Manifold Turbine" so upgrading it won't be as easy like in the past. It's to soon to speculate, but i can't justify paying that amont of money into V6 coupe regardless the power. The car has still yet to prove itself.

I keep hearing people bringing this up. Same thing with the 335i.

Most people would change the manifold along with the turbo anyway, it's not really a big deal at all. Look at the SRT-4, mani and turbo are one piece, did that stop people from swapping the turbo?

I've also heard rumors, supposedly from people close to the project, that the GT-R motor, in stock form, was tested to be reliable at 800hp.

As far as the price, the GT-R is supposed to be quite a bit less than $100k. If I recall correctly it's going to starting mid $60k to $70k.

Agreed, Nissan would have been more successful with the earlier Skyline in the U.S. this new car doesn't excite me much. $100k seems a bit high, I agree caddy johnson, $70k seems more reasonable.
