Lightbulb 2020 Bentley Bacalar (Breathtaking!)

Speechless....

Quote:
The Bacalar is regarded as the "rarest two-door Bentley of the modern era." Quite rightfully so as only 12 units of this car will be produced, all of which have already been sold at this point. The price? £1.5 million or around $1.91M at current exchange rates.

Now, what do you get with this kind of money? Top Gear has released a walkaround video of the Bacalar, tackling some of the details about the roofless version of last year’s eccentric EXP 100 GT concept.
Speaking of roofless, yes, the Bacalar isn't a convertiblel, which means it needs a garage rather than a roadside parking spot. It's also be interesting to know that the Bacalar only shares a single exterior component from the Continental GT, and that's the door handles that houses the keyless entry system.

Quite a few details emerge from the walkaround video, such as the bronze accents that line that outlines the Bacalar's body panels. It gets more interesting inside, too. The dashboard uses super-rare Riverwood, which is 5,000-year-old preserved wood from naturally-fallen trees "in peat bogs, lakes and rivers found in the Fenlands of East Anglia, England."
Other special items inside include the seat inserts made from natural wool cloth and the Wilton-woven pure wool deep pile carpets. Lastly, seats are upholstered with Beluga leather, which isn't really something for the faint hearts.

Lastly, the latest evolution of the Volkswagen Group's twin-turbo 6.0-liter W12 engine sits inside the long bonnet of the Bacalar, which produces 650 horsepower and 667 pound-feet (900 Newton-meters) of torque. This power allows the Beluga to sprint from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.5 seconds.

So I have a lot of respect for Bentley and it's history in motor sports. This car is interesting, but I'm not sure it speaks to me....the comments at the end that some might be driven but most will be parked and admired actually says a lot about all of these bespoke cars. So many are bought by people with more money than taste or any sense, I have to wonder if any of the owners can actually drive or appreciate what they own.....posers of a sort I suspect. A real shame when you think about it. Like I said, interesting car though.

Wow there is way too much going on with that design. I'm sure it's a great car but that design reminds me of the new Civic Type R for a much higher pay grade.

Definitely not my preference in color. Give me Liquid Silver, Black Sapphire, or even White.

Honestly... If I'm in this league of Buyer's, I'd also be hesitant to drive $2,000,000.00 worth of car on public roads.

Center intake reminds me of:

I think the Bentley is trying too hard, too many intake thingies and lines trying to make it interesting, when the basic shape, brick, is uninteresting in the first place.

Well whatever they "did", they sold all allocations instantly for $2M.

Well if you have the kind of money needed to buy these I'm sure it would be completely unbecoming to be seen at the country club in last years model. Might not even let you in!

Love the back and side, front... not doing it for me. Plus when I think Bentley I think luxury, this seems a bit too sporty for a Bentley, but wtf does this peasant know.

If I had any clue what these fat cats did as a pastime I probably wouldn't be here. I'd probably be playing golf on my yacht or bribing politicians, fuck do I know.

That being said I'm pretty sure they are not doing yard work and going to ikea.

I don't know, when I was in Beverly Hills a few years back I saw some pretty pricey cars parked on the street, and every video I've seen of Monaco seem to be full of some pretty pricey rides. If I had that kind of money I'd want drive the thing.

That ocasional quick spin to the "be seen" spot, with a buddy tagging along behind me to prevent tail gatters.

The car is bad ass IMO. Bentley is already synonymous with GT! So I can see them inching closer to Sports Cars.

Eh, looks like they took a million design cues from a bunch of other cars & brands. I see 71 GTO & 2nd gen camaro on meth up front, Aston in back, Kia Stinger from the side, etc
