E92 M3 Mid-America Motorplex MCCI 7/26/14

Been meaning to get footage of this track, as I don't think anyone here has been there, from this forum. Had a blast with the Mustang Central Club of Iowa. This is only my second time ever at the track. Car rolled 100K miles on this trip, and hasn't skipped a beat! Never mind the stubborn stang I was following who refused a point by.

Nice. Looks like a fun track in a farm field! Googled it, that is way the hell out in the middle of nowhere.

Did you always have an E92 as well? Think I've only seen the 335 at the track

Yes it's out in the boonies for sure, which is why no one on this forum went there. It's a very satisfying track though. Much more so than gingerman, with plenty of run off room. The track almost went away last year, and was auctioned off. I'm so thankful someone bought it, and kept it running, because I didn't get any footage in the 335I when I went there in 2012.

I got the E92 in May, which is when the 335I was retired. Nothing wrong with it, just wanted a car that can give me much more laps, which in turn helps me learn more. Why do you think you need suspension work for Putnam? How many miles on your oem Control arms and tie rods? Could just need to replace them, and you're back in business.

Yeah, looks like a fun track. If you're going that far, this is a spot I've had in mind for a while now but haven't yet made it out -- http://highplainsraceway.com/

Cool, glad you joined the M3 club!

Yep, I picked up a DCT this spring. Have to say goodbye to the 6MT, I guess. I'm conflicted, anyways...

Not so much that suspension is needed for Putnam, but rather it's the first track I've been where the stock M3 suspension felt somewhat overwhelmed. I speculate you could really feel the benefit of coils there. It's got some quick transitions, and I felt like I was counteracting the roll and weight of the car more than anywhere else. Wrestling it. Could have also been I was off line a bit having never been there before, but I heard from multiple guys that it was a track that favored light and agile.

Don't think it's worn suspension components I was feeling. Only 27k miles and the car felt totally fine (equal to my 6MT) in my shakedown at Gingerman earlier this year.

That experience probably just pushed me over the edge honestly. I've had coils in mind for a while now, so now Putnam is my final excuse.

Thanks, I'm glad I'm finally one of the cool kids . Thanks also for this track, I'll put it on my list for next year. I have one more track event this october, and it's on a brand new track that was just paved last week. I'll be the first BMW out on it for sure, but I don't know if I should mention the name of the facility on this forum, for fear of being brandished a traitor On my wish list for next year is: Watkins Glen, Oregon raceway park, and COTA.

Sup Klammer, how's your new bundle of joy? Thanks for the compliment. The M is a blast on the road course, but my 335I is still better

MAM is a fun track and will always be special to me, site of my very first wheel to wheel race win. Wish I was closer

It's only about 25 minutes from Omaha which is a fun town.
