But the SIB states "When it reaches approximately 40° C, open the filler plug again (with the engine running), and top off the fluid level until it starts to overflow."

It's just an approximation. If it's at 35 or 45 I don't think it'll be the end of the world. The point is that you don't want to do it when the transmission and fluid is cold (ambient) or really hot. 40 C isn't even that hot for a transmission.

Thank you! I was halfway through when I realized these lines were in the way of the filter, and no DIY seemed to mention them.

Thanks for the DIY - just looking into this and wondered if anyone knows if a seal is required for the "Hydraulic Lines" described in the attached procedure screenshot? Maybe they're compression fittings instead?

This video shows they're O-Rings, but now I need to find the correct O-Ring size/material. Anyone know?

I'm not sure if it's worth replacing the "Sucking Jet Pump" (sucks fluid from the DCT sump), I'll replace if it's not too expensive to buy from BMW.

Thanks in advance.

I answered this in the other DIY. Yes replace the sucking jet pump if you plan on long term ownership, it's not much more money and they do wear as deansbimmer has demonstrated.

Thanks very much - I missed the notification where you replied to one of my other messages. Looking forward to ticking this job off the list now I have everything I need.

deansbimmer

Where has the wear on a the Sucking Jet Pump Been demonstrated?

Also, I've had a look on a few threads, really helpful having a DCT expert on the forum. I found post #9 from the thread below very interesting - didn't realise the DCT benefitted from periodic fast drives like you've diagnosed from some previous faults.
https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1903696

Also, does anyone know if rotational 'play'/backlash between prop shaft and gearbox output shaft
(up to 2deg approx. by eye) causes any issues? Is there a spline connection that could wear or maybe has worn to cause this on my car?

Thanks all
