What RPM do you guys like LC at?

LC is adjustable up to +/- 500rpm's

I feel it's a little to beastly at 5,500 (hard to get a clean launch, way too much wheel spin).

Tried it today for the first time since I just got my M service.

What's your preferred RPM for LC?

Maybe 5,000 even?

Let's hear some thoughts on a perfect, rock solid launch using LC.

I usually set mine down a couple clicks. Don't know the exact RPM.

I don't know, but my guess would be hours if not days.

Until it runs out of gas.

Can't understand why some people like to abuse their cars like that, rather than a much less abusive roll-on. There's no freaking skill in flooring the throttle and releasing the brakes .

I don't have the DCT but if I did I would set it to 3500.

Those of you using the LC and adjusting the rpm's LOWER when launching, how do you know EXACTLY how much lower you are adjusting the rpm's just before you launch?

Reason why I ask, I did a LC the other day. Before I launched, I did (or alteast tried) to bring the rpm's down as much as possible off the launch by pulling the lever back towards me - (like what is shown on page 30 of my supplemental owner's manual book)

When I did that, nothing shows or tells me that the LC rpm setting has been lowered. Is there suppose to be anything that tells me?? The car launched with less wheel-spin, so maybe I did launch at the lower rpm's of the LC? But I don't know......

Each click on the cruse control lever towards you decreases the RPM by 500; each click away from you increases by 500. There must be a memory built into the LC on my car because each time I use it it goes to the 4,500 RPM I had set previous. If I select a lower number it pulls that level up the next time. This car is just amazing....and you got to keep trying what works best for you and the conditons.

Aaaah, okay - that makes sense.

Raustin, in my supplemental manual on page 30 it says: "decrease the drive-off engine speed by approx 100rpm's: pull the lever beyond the resistance point". And then right above that it says "if you wish you can adjust the drive-off engine speed by up to aprrox 500rpm's"

So each click(towards the trunk of the car) would be decreasing the LC 100rpm's and not 500rpms? When you are doing this, is there anywhere on the speedometer or instrument cluster that literally shows the rpm's being adjusted? Are you seeing the rpm's on the rpm gauge come down in LC mode if you are lowering the rpm's from 5,500rpm's to say 4,500rpm's?

I know how to use the LC, I'm just getting a little confused as to exactly how I KNOW what rpm's I'm approximately launching at. I now understand, thanks to you that I need to repeat the clicks on the lever if I want to adjust the rpm's, whereas before I was just pulling the lever in one time thinking the rpm's would go all the way down.
