This is really bothering me....WHAT IS THIS?!

http://www.restyleit.ca/matte-metall...bmw-3-series/#

It says it's a 3 series...is this a 335i? exhaust is too wide to be M3, but side gill, hood and mirror says it's M3...got bigger brakes too.

Definitely not an m judging by the front bumper and headlights. I'd say 335 probably because of the exhaust. Sweet color!

Wow, I saw this car in person and was scratching my head over the same thing. Looked really nice in person. Thought it was an M3 myself but I knew something wasn't right. The above link confirmed my doubt.

I swear, he spent more money into modding a 335i into a M than to buy a M itself. weird. but looks like the new version.

The fog lights and the placement of the exhaust are a dead giveaway........Phil

uhmm...some people likes the high torque and possible tuning options for N54 engine. 1500 bucks on N54 engine can get you faster than m3 in straight line.

It's just a regular 3 series made to look like an M3. Not a real M3 for various obvious reasons. The headlights and front bumper are from a regular 3 series. The fender vents are wrong. they are from an M3 but from the coupe. The sedan has different styled vents. The body is also too narrow. The M3 has flared fenders to clear the bigger wheels. As for the brakes, they're aftermarket so they don't indicate anything.

It's a E90 328xi. OP is in GTA

the owner is over @ e90 board. Changed a lot of things to make it looks like a M3, I would say probably spent about 10K thus far.

Here is one of the latest mod.

wow, all that $$$ spent and he still has a POS slowpoke 328i. For that money he could have bought himself the real deal M3 instead of looking like a desperate poser.

I always wonder why people do that ... should have planned ahead and buy the M3 (even a slightly used one)

Most of the times it is not the owner's money that fund our hobby, thus not having an M. Some are more fortunate to have help buying an M car or being able to do it on their own. There is nothing wrong with it, although I know plenty of people who come to our meets that can buy every car there if they wanted to at the same time but have a 328i LCI modded.

Some people don't want the associated costs of owning an M (brake job is 3 times the cost of a non M) and just want the look. Some people call it cheap, some people call it rice, I just call it suiting your budget.

Obiwanchen's car was at our shop last year before the exhaust and wrap and I must say that even though it is not my taste or style to do this, you can really appreciate some of the work done.

I too wish he did put his energy and funds into an M...it would be pretty wild!!

lol@Majin Buu....your name brings back lots of memories.

You guys are looking at performance instead of aesthetics, and think a person doing this to their car are trying to be posers pretending to have V8's under the hood...which is not the case with everyone.

Its clear that the M3 has the nicest body style. Wider fenders, beautiful side mirrors, front bumper, hood, etc. A person that mods their car with M3 aesthetics is simply valuing the design. They dont stick on an M3 badge and start revving at people on a red light. Its not about pretending to be an M3, its about investing in your car to make it look just how you want.

I had a 328i (pics in my sig), and bought the M3 front bumper, because I loved it with that CF lip. It does not mean I was pretending to own an M3, nor did I ever badge it as an M3. I would have bought the M3 side mirrors as well, but they were too expensive to justify it.

Obiwan's car would not have been that expensive to mod. Ron at Streetxtreme provides the best prices with top service and quality. And since Obiwan is a returning customer, I am sure he got a great deal on installing the body parts. Wrapping the car costs around $1700 at Restyle it. And he saves on paint costs. Its definitely a hell of lot less expensive than buying an M3. And the mods are done gradually when you have cash on hand. So its not a big chunk of money to finance in comparison to buying an M3.

I don't see a problem with aesthetically modding your car to mirror the best looking BMW on the road today.

Anyhow, after I had my fun with the 328i, I wanted some power and bought a used M3. I still miss my 328i though, had lots of fun with it....just decided I wanted more power.

are the E92/E90 M3 fender interchangeable? cuz obviously his is a sedan but he has Coupe fenders on. I heard M3 hood is the same size as all Coupes but diff size for Sedans, how come he fit one on?

I wanna take his trunk. lol

No the fenders are not interchangeable. You can buy Replica M3-style fenders online for the E90 or E92. That is what he has on his car: replica E90 M3-Style fenders. I believe you can also buy them on ebay.

The M3 hood for the coupe is a little longer than the non-M3 coupe. You can't install an OEM M3 hood on the car. Again, he has an aftermarket rep M3 Style hood on his car. I sell them as well (I sell body parts for the non M3 E90 and E92 in the e90post forums).

He did not buy OEM M3 parts and do a conversion, be bought M3 reps at a fraction of the cost and wrapped them. This is why I think you guys are assuming he spent too much on the car, in reality he spent a lot less than buying an M3.

PS: I sell those trunks every summer, just sold my last one though!

thus far, his signature suggests he has done exhaust, bbk, tune, (non forged) wheels & tires, suspension, plus exterior mods. I can see $10K right there.

I know he just sold his Remus exhaust and doing another set.

Agreed. He's dumping a crapload of money into that 328i and he will never get either the performance or the resale value to show for it. He should've just cut to the chase and got a used M3.

+1, and it's 100% being a douchebag when people like Majin Buu and others criticize someone on modding a 3-series instead of just getting an M3 in the first place. Those people need to get off their high f-ing horses.
