Well the starting price isn't bad, but loaded you're looking at 87k

I was hoping for loaded to be around 80k. But this isn't too bad.

Also note that official Canadian launch date announced as March 8th.

I am also pleasantly surprised with the pricing. Sure its more than US pricing but not that much more after you add duty and import/transport costs and standard features on the Canadian car that are options in the US. I was also thinking C$80-85k best case for the coupe, not C$71k.

Are you kidding? That is actually GREAT pricing!! The e46 M3's base price was 73,000. This is LESS than that! My e46, optioned out with SMG, came to $84,000. If the e92 M3 comes to $87,000, the increase is a lateral move, if anything.

I'm a happy camper!

If I was Canadian I'd buy my car in the US and drive it up to Canada.

US dealers are forbidden under the terms of their franchise agreements from selling new BMWs to Canadians. Also by the time you add the 6% duty, shipping, customs brokerage costs and the fact that BMW Canada won't give you free Scheduled Maintenance on a US car, the net cost difference based on these MSRPs is relatively small.

well based on my specs, i'd save 15k importing one. That's alot of maintenance! Actually, if you live near the border, or go to the US frequently, you could just go across the border for maintenance.

You can have an import companies bring a new car in for you, they generally have a corporation registered in the US who buys the car, since that corp is a legal US resident the dealer doesn't know that it is going to be exported. I know someone who registed an incorported company in the states solely to puchase a car.

I do not know how you think you would save $15000 importing one to the Great White North.I just did the the comparo using money at par and including the 6.1% import tax and "BMW Canadian "conversion and fees and I only see a saving of about $6000 which is nothing when you factor the hassle, loss on resale, the differences in the warranty. That is based on 2 fully equipped cars, which mine is.

At least we are getting a fair deal this time in comparison to our Southern friends.

I think the value of the difference is partly based on people's personal circumstandces, but I agree with you Gearhead999. Based on my specs I get to about a gross savings by buying in the US of approx $15,000, but net savings of only $8,000 after duty, importer fee, transportation, title reg and BMW Recall Letter. Then assuming I trade in my E46 M3 I also save the tax on that - say approx $4,000 - maybe I could get more selling it privately but I'm not sure - from what I see the used M3 market is getting hammered right now. So that's net savings of $4,000 to cover my Scheduled Maintenance over four years - given that oil changes alone on M3s run a few hundred dollars $4,000 isn't that much over four years - and all of the hassle and explaining to my wife and kids why I need to drive to Buffalo once a month or whatever while they work out all of the kinks of a car in its first year of production.... And that's before adjusting for reduced resale value of a U.S. car in Canada - in addition Canadian dealers won't take a US car as a trade-in as they can't sell a US car as a Certified Series if I understand correctly. Not worth it for me but could be worth it for others who live closer to the border, don't have a ball and chain etc.

Well I get a built price of 67,200 USD with ZCW, ZPP, ZTP, M-DCT, and 19s. That doesn't include delivery, but neither doe sthe canadian price i'm using. So 67200*1.06 = 71232 then add tax and we have 80492.16. Plus 2400 for the importer, and 500 for the recall letter. Then we have 87k for the Canadian price, with tax 98310. For a difference of 14,917.84. I'm assuming you won't need to get the bumpers changed out, and that the speedo has KM/H on it.

I'm not planning to do this, as i'll be leaseing, but if i was looking to buy i'd dig into it a bit deeper.
